low rpms

my em1's rpms are really low..they are at 500-
from what i know it should be at 800.
and sometimes the car turns off on its own when the rpms get too low when i'm on neutral.

help??

When's the last time you changed your fuel filter?
Have you messed with the IACV at all?

well the motor is a b20b and when i got the car the timing on the distributor was retarted and so i advanced it...she runs like a champ now but with this rpm problem...i cant remember the last time the fuel filter was changed.

Well i mean if youve had your car for a while and cannot remember when the last time the fuel filter was changed you might want to change it. Does it have like a boggy/rough start?
Cant say how the distributor timing would affect the rpm but im sure somebody on here will say.

yeah it does have a rough start. i might change it.
well one of my friends said that it was the timing on the dizzy that i couldnt advance it cause it is a crv motor.
ill swap out the fuel filter tomorrow.

well check if it is bad first, how is your fuel pressure?

DId you just advance the timing without using a timing gun. You should make sure it's within spec for your motor. As for the idle do you have a vacuum leak by any chance?

no i didnt use a timing gun. and for the vacum leak, not that i know of.

i too have this problem...but for my ej1......on my Haynes repair manual....it all points to a vacum leak..........good luck.....tomarrow ima try to discover where my leak is coming from.....
