Magnaflow WARNING!!!

Hi everybody. I am shaking mad at Magnaflow right now.  I ordered a catback from them(15643) for my '99 CX and it was missing a piece! I looked at the manual and had everything that is shown but it didn't include the front pipe. That's the piece right after the cat. I installed it over the weekend so I couldn't call them. So I did today. They told me their catback doesn't go from the cat back. WTF!

Them: "Its still a cat back, they can start anywhere behind the catalytic converter."

Me: "If I just ordered a muffler would they still call it a catback?"
Him: "No sir, that would be an axleback" <(wrong)
Me: "By your definition its still a catback"
crickets....crickets.
Him: "Well that's how the engineers designed it so theres nothing we can do."

I ordered a catback because my front pipe had a hole rusted in it and my inspection is in February. So I thought I'd get a nice sounding exhaust and repair it at the same time. Boy was I wrong. I installed it because I trusted magnaflow enough to do right and get me the piece they should have included in the kit(seems like it would be easy for them to do). They don't stand behind their product and I will never by from them again.

Sorry about the rant but I thought you guys should know a bit more about the Magnaflow brand.
There's more to the conversation but I'll save you the reading.(Basically they did it to cut cost)

It sounds like you got a bad representative. I'd give them a call back, Magnaflow has always stood behind their products, atleast for me.

hmmmmmmm. sounds like you need a, Right after the cat back cat back exhaust system.

Can you post a link to where ever you bought it from.

Hopefully there's a description there to what's actually in the box.

Check this out ,Magnaflow 15643

If i was to buy this right now, I would make the assumption that i will be receiving everything that's picture unless other wise told different through a product description.

:word:.

Did you order directly from Magnaflow or did you buy the exhaust system off of an authorized dealer? If you bought it from an authorized dealer, I would contact Magnaflow directly and explain your situation. I don't know about anyone else, but I was under the impression that a "catback" exhaust system included all of the piping from the cat, back. That rep was slinging some bullshit.

the same thing happened to me when i bought my PIT tuning exhuast. granted it was extremely cheap, but the picture showed me all the parts, and no note was in the product description tell me it was any different.

i was pissed, but it was $80 to have a muffler shop stick a piece in there.

i dont think the rep knows s**t about cars if he couldnt answer that question. hes probably never seen tits either.

I bought it from flea-bay(Magnaflow didn't ask me where I got it from). I talked to a rep and their supervisor, they were both slingin the same s#!t. I am going to call up and tell them I'm Vick Edelbrock and see what happens. =) Yeah what is in that pic is what came with it. I just looked under the car, saw it shooting exhaust out of the front pipe and ordered one. I can get what I need for $60 but it just feels so wrong.

If you bought it eBay you might be in deep water, most stuff sold on eBay is sold "As-Is" and most companies sell stuff on eBay that have defects or not all the parts.

^ agreed
they might have snuck sumthing into the fine print
ebay sellers are prolly not authorized magnaflow sellers and if this came from one that is unauthorized then magnaflow really isnt to blame that seller on ebay is

^Nope it IS a Magnaflow problem. They(Magnaflow) told me they intentionally left the part out because it would save cost for the kit. I'm fine with that except they sell it as a catback. To quote their website:
"Question: What does the Cat-Back Exhaust System include and can I install the system myself?

Answer:Our cat-back exhaust systems are COMPLETE. Everything from the pipes, hangers, clamps, mufflers and tips are included and stainless steel in construction. Tips, mufflers, and resonators (where applicable) are "mirror finish", polished stainless steel. They come with everything needed to bolt up in place of your factory system using basic tools..."

You're at risk for missing parts when you buy "genuine" parts/kits off Ebay from unauthorized retailers. You wouldn't have ran into this problem if you bought the kit from an authorized retailer.
