maximum boost i should run

im looking at gettin a turbo kit for my car and was wondering whats the maximum boost i should run on stock internals.. lmk

with a good tune around 10 psi.....an ok tune i wouldnt do more than 7....

It all depends on what kind of turbo and what kind of tune otherwise your question can not be answered

That's kind of big for your z6 on stock internals. You will have mad turbo lag :( My advice would be to start off with a smaller turbo if you're going to be boostin your stock D yo ;)

yeah i know it would be laggy as hell.. but thats just what the kit comes with. im thinking about gettin a t25

A t25 would be good and would spool fast. I myself am boostin with a 14b snail. I also have a d16z6 with stock internals dyno tuned with a apexi safc2 @8psi

what kind of power did u put down with the 8psi setup?

like 186hp to the crank. That's some major power ya know :cool:


ran a 14.6 at the track with an old stock supension from 1989, bald ass 13in tires and no weight reduction whatsoever. I've beaten 13sec cars from a roll tho, traction is a b***h right now :( I'm shootin for mid 12's after I have everything done and re-tuned :D

if youre buying a turbo "kit" doesnt it come pre tuned? just run the amount of boost that comes with it.

Stock d series don't like power at all but if the bottom end is built you can safely boost the bejesus out of it. The stock rods are the size of your little finger which will break with enough power. Boost is not the main thing, its cfm. You can have a gt100 turbine and only be pushing 7 lbs of boost but move a ton of air. (gt100 too big for a honda) But yeah, 200 whp on a stock d series won't last long on the bottom end at all. If you build it, they will come( or something good will happen)

if the turbo has a internal wastegate the wastegate comes set at certain psi. but ive seen internal gates set anywhere from 6psi to 14.5 psi

Well, I don't think any turbo kit for a stock d-series would come with a t3/t4 but you can safely boost for 200hp just as long as you have a very good tune ;) I've been boosted for over a year now with no problems. The only real problems I've had is my gauges went out and so did the screen to my safc2, the vibration boost produces is a b***h :( Other than that, no problems at all. I am running rich tho because of my decent tune. I need to go obd1 witrh uberdata

i wouldnt even get a T25 man....im sure later on u'll wanna boost more....lookin into a garrett T3 man...perfect turbo for ur setup
