I too remove my faceplate EVERY where I go, and throw it in my purse. It's annoying but the deck won't be jacked. I also never roll into a parking lot, subdivision, or any area where I'm at constantly w/ my system up. That's just asking for my ish to be jacked.

Having limo tint all around helps too a bit. There are plenty of non-discrete units out there, but I'll agree...stock is best, but for someone who cares about sound, it's an absolute no-go for me.

Y'all are some paranoid people. I can't remember how many times I'd go somewhere and leave everything in the open and in my car unlocked and return to nothing missing. Or how my car was never broken into, ever.

Maybe I didn't care cause it was a Civic?

My droid has an fm app that uses the earphones as an antenna. You plug your aux cord into your head unit, and your whole car is an antenna. That's what I'd do, but it'd be pretty pointless since the radio has FM haha.

Since my car LOOKS modified I get more attention to it. I also live in the most dangerous city in the US unless Detroit beats us occasionally. I made the choice to have a nice aftermarket stereo.....so ill deal w removing the plate.

Car's get broken into and stolen around my city. Cars other than Honda's as well. I'll stick to the safe side. Even when my friend used to live in the richest suburban town a long time ago, his subs and amp got stolen out of his Camaro one night. They must have been camping the car because he locked his doors EVERY night. The ONE night he left them unlocked, his s**t got jacked.

Let's see. If I were a thief, I'd be scoping out rich 'hoods.

Choices:
1--Shitty area in the hood, or less nice area. Likely people are illegally carrying heat. Shitty cars, and equipment.
2--Rich/nicer area. Less likely for people to own firearms, and if they do they're locked up and registered. Nice cars, nice equipment, etc.

Yes...I'd choose a nice area for break in purposes I guess.

Dude, add an adapter for your iphone. I've put mine into every car i've owned (5 if you include my wife's 2 lol). It charges your phone, plays music crystal clear. and you have controls from your headunit.
you can get them for around 60-80 dollars which is a tad more that you want to pay but worth it in the end. think of it as spending the 50 + getting a car charger too.
It installs really easily into the plug behind your stereo.

If nothing else, i think i have a 4gb 1st gen ipod nano i'll probably let go for real cheap. Just gotta wait till i get home (2weeks) to see if its 4gb or not. by then you will probably already have something though.

Taking the faceplate off does not stop people from jacking your deck. Also, in my experience having darker tint causes more harm. If you see a dropped civic rolling 5 % tint you will think damn that thing for sure has electronics I can flip. Security is something that some care about and some don't. I personally have owned my car for 10 years so I really care about it.
