Ok thanks for the info, anyway another question for you guys...

A freind of mine says for $2500(canadian that is) he'll locate a b16, and install it in my car. Is it worth it? Or should I just eventully selll my car and get a SiR?

And one more.. any online retailers you know of that sell after market SI emblems? Preferably a carbon fiber one...

The equivalent of the American Civic EX in Canada is the Civic Si (no B16)

Sorry that i dont know that winnipeg is a Canadian state/territory or whatever.
:rolf:
It's not a state or a territory. (I think you're looking for provience or territory btw.) It's a city in Canada.

Also, says right on this website under specs under 6th generation there is SI. I checked Wiki and 6th gen is in 98 as well, therfore are those the correct specs for my car?

http://www.clubcivic.com/6th_Gen_Civic
Those specs are for the US Civics. And a lot of the specs there are wrong too.

For the 6th gen ('96-'00) Civics in the US, Honda produced these models. EJ6, EJ7, EJ8, EM1 and EN1 are chassis codes and can be found as your fourth, fifth and sixth VIN digits.

'96-'00 CX hatch
- EJ6
- D16Y7 (SOHC non-VTEC)
- 106hp / 103lb-ft
- lightest model, no p/w, p/l, a/c option, black trim, unpainted spoiler, no rear wiper

'96-'00 DX hatch
- EJ6
- D16Y7 (SOHC non-VTEC)
- 106hp / 103lb-ft
- no p/w, p/l option, black trim, painted spoiler, rear wiper

'96-'00 DX coupe
- EJ6
- D16Y7 (SOHC non-VTEC)
- 106hp / 103lb-ft
- no p/w, p/l option, black trim

'96-'00 HX coupe
- EJ7
- D16Y5 (SOHC VTEC-E)
- 115hp / 104lb-ft
- fully loaded, painted trim, CVT option, 14" alloy wheels

'96-'00 EX coupe (Canadian version badged as Si)
- EJ8
- D16Y8 (SOHC VTEC)
- 127hp / 107lb-ft
- fully loaded, painted trim, moonroof option

'99-'00 Si coupe (Canadian version badged as SiR; this motor also comes in coupe, hatches, and sedans called the VTi and SiR overseas)
- EM1
- B16A2 (DOHC VEC)
- 160hp / 111lb-tq
- heaviest model, fully loaded, painted trim, moonroof, 15" alloy wheels

'96-'00 DX sedan
- EJ6
- D16Y7 (SOHC non-VTEC)
- 106hp / 103lb-ft
- no p/w, p/l option, black trim, black window trim

'96-'00 LX sedan
- EJ6
- D16Y7 (SOHC non-VTEC)
- 106hp / 103lb-ft
- fully loaded, black trim, silver window trim

'98 - '00 GX sedan
- EN1
- D16B5 (SOHC VTEC-E CNGeng.)
- unknown performance ratings
- natural gasoline motor, black trim, silver window trim

'96-'00 EX sedan (similar to the Canadian 1.6EL as in it uses the same body with different front and rear, and has the same motor)
- EJ8
- D16Y8 (SOHC VTEC)
- 127hp/ 107lb-ft
- fully loaded, painted trim, moonroof option, silver window trim

Welcome

I clicked the thread expecting to say "that's not an si" judging by the year, but then first thing I saw was winnipeg and I knew....
Yeah. I figured, "Okay... Canadian Si... let's see how many people say it' not an Si."
jon julian said:

Yes, it's an Si. In the US though we call is an EX. The chassis code is EJ8 and it has a D16Y8.

Why replace the emblem? Oh, and there are other motor swaps out there that will easily go into your car than the B16A2. =) Others motors with higher hp, higher tw, and some don't have VTEC (which doesn't mean the motor doesn't have power).

I'd encourage you to look into other motor swaps before making your car just like stock ones sold in your country.

:werd:
To anyone thinking of painting your interior, buy replacement parts in whatever color, paint those, and keep your stock parts in a safe place. that way, if you do want to replace it with stock, you already have perfect matching parts to reinstall.

Damn Amy, you're really into quoting people and replying lol. In lots of threads I see that happen.

But IMHO, there's too much flaming going on :(. No ones "an idiot". I didn't know Winnipeg was Cananda either til I read this thread. We all learn something new everyday.

Getting back to topic, ride looks decent. It's got potential. G/l with it :thumbs up.
