i do ^.^ um.. A for Effort! Unless u did it in the car.. in that case, D for effort lol.. Nah just looks a tad off with the Sterrin colum and door bits+vents. But'll u'll fix it.. My question.. why not paint vents same time:??..
I hope you took the time to prep before you painted...oltherwise, you'll regret everytime you pushed that valve down on the lil spray can. Also, what kind of paint did you use?
Well I wish I could say I liked it... I mean dont get me wrong, black is the way to go but it totally looks like it was painted. I painted my jdm armrest once and it came out nice but after regular use it started wearing off, just like yours will do. I hope you used a good cleaner on every inch of every part cause thats what I did and mine still wore off and it was meant for plastics. Heres what you could have done to improve it IMO:
1. Should have used satin black, it has the same shine as the original parts
2. Paint the steering column housing
3. Paint the ac vents
4. Paint the door handles
5. Paint the running boards
6. Get a black steering wheel
7. Black carpet will help too.
Looks like you put in a good effort at least, ive seen people around here pain the sh*t while its still in their car with out even masking it off.
i just got some front and rear black leather rsx seats,i only need the fronts for my sol so as soon as i pick up the seats (beginning of next week) i will be selling the rear seat.its outta 2002 with 32k miles on it,so pm if you are interested and have money.
O.K.....i am just going to say it cause it seems like some people are beatin around the bush....That paint job looks horrible.....
you should have..
1. removed the dash board becuase that overspray and missed portions look horible
2. check the DIY section and use the Krylon Fusion spray Paint
3. prep the surface b/f spraying it. use like rubbing alcohol
4. use many light coats and not just a few heavy coats.
check this out.
my eg's stock cx blue side panel in comparison to the newly painted one
to show in comparison how well it comes out. here is a pic of my dashboard (which was also originally cx blue) i sprayed in comparison to a pair of factory SI black door panels i bought. Its so close i dont even feel a need to paint the door panels
a misc panel that needed a color change...
and in case your wondering when spraying the instrument panel i used a Q-tip and vascaline and put a thin layer over the VIN tag. Masked off the grey panel holding the climate control and sprayed her down. ONce dry just wipe the vascaline off and it looks clean like nothing was ever done.
Time to bring this thread back to life. I have been having some knee difficulties recently and have been stuck working in the house. But today was a beautiful day outside and I had the back seats and such ripped out so I could fix my speakers so I decided to do some more work. The first pics had the dash painted and the door panels. I will have some pics on here HOPEFULLY by 4 PM EST. Stay tuned for an update! BTW I figured out that if you dont want the parts to chip, leave them out of the car for a full week.
