Trying to hit 200whp with a D-series with only $1000!!!!! Good Luck. You will end up spending a lot more than that to hit ~145whp. Well first off get a good intake and intake mani. You'll need to get as much air into your engine as possible. Going the N/A route, you'll need to get the best header you can find and or afford, and then a high flow exhaust system. Those are just bolt ons and that will cost you around $800. And you havent even touched the internals yet and thats where N/A cars make there power, with some high comp. pistons and forged rods., complete valvetrain changeover. There is alot of work and money that go into N/A cars.

What B-series do you have in another car and what car is it in?

Wow, 200whp outta' a N/A D-series. The small valves, ports, and combustion chambers that make the D a good economy motor limit it's ability to breath like a b-series. I can't remember a N/A, regular pump gas, no nitrous D series going over 150 whp. I am sure someone can but it's going to require a lot more than $1000.

I believe it is possible, go with a great header and intake, I know Skunk makes cams that will fit a D series, I have heard that various pistons will fit and raise the compression, it will cost more than 1k for you. There are tons of parts for the engine, look around and you can find them, try a different ECU also and fuel pump, regulators, injectors, cam gears.....you are basically replacing everything you possibly can.

My friend also recommends making the springs shorter to hit VTEC sooner, I don't know anything about this though, I plan to have him show me on my car.

see im going to opt to disbelieve everything youve said you simply for the fact that you said you wanted 200whp out of a 1.6 sohc for under a grand. heh.

turbo is the only way your d will see more than 180whp.

i just want whats best and cheap and fast for a work car that i will only spend $1000 bcoz im spending $$$ on both cars, so should i go stage2 skunk2 cam59300 and upgrade my valves and retainers or i/h/e first, what u guys think is bang for the bucks.is there even a 200whp d-series engine out there.what could be my max whp that a d-series can have.my other car is just for show coz to many cops out there and the track costs $35 a day to race legally.

180 whp? From a D on pump gas and no nitrous? How much flow bench and custom machining does that involve?

Well I've seen a z6 @ 12 psi with a STOCK block make 262whp and 217wtq with probably one of the smoothes power bands Ive ever seen for a turbo.
