I know I am going to want to adjust the boost of my turbo but not much probably going from 5.5 psi to 8 at the highest... does anybody know of any good boost controllers that are relatively cheap... weather its electronic or manual... whichever is easier for what I am looking for with my psi... I want a good quality one and if its manual i don't want it to leak... can you guys throw out some suggetions... trying to keep it 200 bucks max

greddy profec b is the best ebc for the money, and there are several good manual boost controllers for under 100 bucks. im partial to the turbo xs dual stage, but that requires a good tune.

I am sorry i am not good with manual boost controllers where exactly do you have to mount them isn't it suppose to be very close to the waste gate... so with a MBC the only way to adjust the psi is to pop the hood and adjust it with the key?

yes, you adjust it with an allen wrench. 1 turn of the nut= 1 psi of boost. you check it with a boost gauge. the dualstage is 2 mbc's, one set to low boost, one set to high boost. inside the car is an electric switch, which lets you toggle between the two.

No problems with my boost controller, although i do not have the dual stage, i have the "high performance" version. It has two different adjustments, a course and a fine adjustement. I've never had a problem with the boost level changing on me. For the dual setup, you have a switch that lets you switch between a high and low setting from inside the car. Without that, you have to pop the hood and adjust it using an allen wrench, which isn't really a big deal unless you plan on changing your boost levels constantly, which would require a tune for each boost setting you plan on running and you would probably want to go with an ebc for the ease of adjustement in that case.

here's a pic of it mounted:

after i get it tuned (possibly today) i will be running 6 psi daily and once i get my turboxs boost controller i want to get the dual one so I can set the high boost to 8 and the low at 6..... is there something wrong with that??

why did you say that the turbo xs dual stage requires a good tune?? isn't it just making the psi higher just like anyother boost controller would?? so therefore wouldn't all boost controllers need a good tune or is there something different about this one?

2 reasons- an fmu cant handle any more than stock boost, neither can the blue box, so regardless, you shouldnt be changing it, and 2, you want to make sure you have tuned the car to handle the e xtra boost, by adding in more fuel and more retard. you dont tu ne the car for 6 psi and then run 10 on the boost controller without telling the computer to compensate for it.

I'll admit i don't know much at all about tuning a boosted civic, but keeping a safe a/f ratio is EXTREMELY important for any boosted car. Also, from what i understand, running an FMU will not do the trick above 6psi (and is iffy in general) and a standalone or other fuel management system is required to give a reliable safe tune.

Handlebarsfsr can jump in and give you much much more/better info about this though.

but if my greedy fuel management system is tuned then I don't see why i could not boost it to 8 psi

tuning owns you

it has to be tuned for the amount of boost kid. 8psi is higher than 6 so itll have more air which requires more fuel.

oh yeah I know definitely but what I am saying is that I am going to buy this turbo xs manual boost controller and have the shop install that and the guy there has the whole laptop setup to tune the greddy emanage so it will work out fine
