Wait I thought you were going to make this strictly a track car? If so, I vote hatch for the smaller size. I have considered getting a 5th gen hatch strictly for a track car, however there arent really any autox tracks around here. But if I were, my plans would be totally strip it, LS swap because they can be had for pretty cheap, build that a little for turbo, and then boost. All that in a little hatch, with the right suspension work, would make a mean track car.

Ok. What I was talking about before is that if I couldn't find a hatch but I found a coupe, use the coupe as a temp car till I find a hatch. I might wait to find a hatch till I have the money.

Likeliness of you actually getting either?
Your 16, do you know the work involved with building a decent track car?

Get a hatch, be realistic about what you want, and can do with it. Start from there.
First of all though get a job!

Strictly track? Autox/RR I assume? You're looking into the WRONG CAR for this purpose. Miata would be my 1st choice.

Lol. I really like Civics though. It's been my dream since I was little to get one. Thats why I would rather get this than any car in the world. Btw, its not going to be a straight up track car all of its life. I'm doing it only for the summers and it will be my DD since it will be my only car I have access to.

I said I will turn it into a track car for the summers, but when school time comes around, I'll be using it as a DD. I Said before that I will push for around 350hp so it will be good for both.

so just curious... car + mods to make 300+hp how much exactly do you think you will be spending to achieve that.. just curious because that is a fairly large goal..

to make roughly 350 hp at the wheels in a fwd Honda reliably you are going to spend a s**t ton of money IMO.. like a LOT of money.. PLUS unless you do everything else right the car will be useless.. what i mean by that is.. prepare to redo the suspension.. prepare to upgrade the axles as you snap them.. prepare for some expensive beefy tires that can handle all that power...

motor generates power.. transfers to the trans.. transfers to the axles.. transfers to tires that ideally get traction.. at the moment you obtain traction ALL that stress and force is forced on the trans, and axles.. so the weakest links are gonna break..

300whp is most ideal, imo, if you want to track your car in that light of a chassis.

With all OC just said, you're looking to spend roughly 8-10k if you shop and build wisely. Oh yea, and that's installing and doing work yourself (besides tuning, alignments, and etc)...

yup.. i would say that might even be a little low estimate, even accounting for him doing his own labor.. but i guess if you buy some stuff used and really shop for deals.. NOT to get on the whole Mustang kick.. but this is exactly why I passed on building another Honda when my timing belt went.. for 8k into a fox body Mustang.. holy f**k.. that thing would FLY..
