new to the tuner scene so I was just curious as to the pros and cons of doin either a d16z6 or a b18? found a z6 block and head today for CHEAP and can't find a b18 around here for s**t so I'm leanin towards the z6, I just need some opinions

z6 is still only a 1.6L single cam. If you're going to swap the motor you might as well get something that's a real upgrade.

u could use the z6 head, get a d15 block, have it stroked to 1.7l and boost it. how far are u willin to go pick up a b series?

that's not a bad idea, headin to the junkyard now. and I wouldn't have a problem travelin to a surrounding state for a b18 block, providing the price was right

If i was going to pull the motor i would just go ahead and dump a b series in there man, but its however you want to build your car.

Good luck finding a b18 at the junk yard. I went to pick and pull every week and couldnt find a b18, swear they just save them fro their employees so that they can sell em expensive on craigslist. Finally found a wrecked gsr and picked it up for $1500 though, was even able to drive it home, u just gotta be patient and find the right deal. Good luck

Thats exactly what they do at least where i live at cause i have friends that work at a bunch of different junkyards and the scrap yard the employees get first pick of everything so no b series is making it to the yard around here.

well went up there and it was still sittin in the trunk of the car I left it in yesterday so I snagged it for $100. got a couple friends that work at the local honda dealer so I stopped by there on my way back to let him check out the head, he said it looked like it was in good condition so I don't think I got too bad of a deal

I didn't really feel like ripping everything out of the car so that's why I stuck with the d series. And I got the head and valve cover for that

That's california for you, any honda/acura that MAKES it to the junkyard gets stripped in the first two hours that it's there.

Thats why i like my small town in GA too. I have friends that work at alot of junkyards that know their imports, but there are also 10 more at least that know nothing about them or what there parts are worth.
What are your goals with the car
Have you decided on full swap or mini me

my goal is to be able to smoke all the little mustangs around here that think their s**t is so tight, and after reading more I think I'm gonna try sellin my z6 head to get some money towards a b18 swap. I mean yes the d could be built up but after really thinking about it and doin lots of reading the b swap would be much easier

you're going to need more than just a b series swap to "smoke" all those little mustangs! and if you ever do build up a motor to smoke those little mustangs.... you will probably have some traction issues.

it aint gonna be just a b swap, after I get the motor I'm gonna have it rebuilt before I put it in then later on when money permits I'm gonna boost it
