Hey bro, If you are looking for a sub that will get loud, go with Audiobahn or SPL. They will get loud as long as you put the right watts to them, otherwise they wont work to their full potential. They will sound like crap and they do not have any sound quality to them at all. But if loudness is all that you care about, then go with those. Otherwise bro, go with some Infinity Kappa or Reference subwoofs. They have amazing sound quality and they can get pretty loud. I have 2 Infinity Reference 12's, running 300 watts to each. I couldnt be any happier.

Yep - quality is Infinity Reference or Kappas.. Another quality audio sub is Oz Matrix.. Not a heavy bass sub, but quality tightness..

For all-out boom, audiobahn on a lot of power.. :roll

I have a 10" bazooka tube and it hits perfectly for me. Although I don't listen to stuff with alot of bass it is perfect for spine crushing A chords. I would definetly recommend it on the merit that even the 12s are self contained and easier on trunk space than a sub and a box.

yup no help here either. I personally think Audiobahn sucks ass. OZ is an excellent woofer. Image Dynamics are an excellent choice as well. I wouldnt overpay for a shitty woofer. If you do have to get Audiobahn pay what its worth and get it off e bay

j/k i ended up getting the audiobahn. i went on sounddomain.com and they recommend the sealed or ported, but the vented box got like a 5 out of 5 rating, and thats what im thinking about getting next, so should i get the vented or sealed??

I hope you don't care about SQ

audiobahn subs get loud....sound nice? hell no. I have some audiobahn amps, but I dont think I would ever get any of their subs, they sound really sloppy.

might as well put them in ported cuz it would be pointless in sealed

ported box...

cardboard would work, but since you skimped on a sub, you might want to consider a NICE, quality box, cause boxes and the right amp have the ability to make even a crappy sub sound good

well bro, honest opinion, if your just looking for 1 12" sub, i'd go w/ an alpine type R. High quality, and it slaps pritty hard, leaving you with decent trunk space. Not only that, it doesnt make your entire trunk rattle n s**t, one of the things i hella hate. idk, thats just my opinion, im a big alpine fan. when i first had my car, friends let me try out their systems, and a friend actually had some extra subs laying arround so he let my try-out his type R for a while in my car, and damn, after hearing that sub, i really dont want to buy anthing else. its budget, and has real good quality.

Uhm.. Please explain your theory when you said this about an alpine 'type r' not only that, it doesnt' make your entire trunk rattle n s**t.

Is it because it's a... Type R ??

So a Rockford, Infinity Audiobahn, Radio Shack or another brand of sub will make the trunk rattle, but the Alpine wont?

Not trying to bust your chops, it's just that you made a very misleading statement.. :thumbs up

seemingly, the alpine type R is the only subs that i've seen that hasnt made the trunk rattle n s**t. I've heard friends systems that rattle and s**t w/ similar setups and this is the first one that has good quality with no rattle. I've heard a lot of kickers and audiobahns just rattle the s**t out of friends civics. imo the type R's are about right for the civics, good quality and no rattle. thats just from my experience, not sure how audiobahns or kickers sound in other civics, but in my opinion, if your going with one 12, definately go with the alpine type R.

That just means that the Alpine sub has a lower SPL output.. IOW, it doesnt hit as hard, or create as much 'sound pressure'...
