whatever you do, dont buy sony. My freind has sony xplodes and oh man, do they sound like crap. Go for the major brands such as alpine, rockford fosgate, kicker etc....

and you only want to power your subs right? not your other speakers?

I agree

I agree the rockford amps are very good i have a 600watt amp for my 1 10" rockford sub plus
a kenwood 500watt amp pushing all 4 speakers, kendwoods 6 1/2 in the front and rockford 6x9 in the back deck. i do recom.a 1 farad cap using that much power pulled from you battery will hurt, i have a 1 farad rockford and to help out with the power i have a yellow top battery. let me know if you need any more help

how much you think this will cost? I am literally a kid with money but doesnt know what to spend it on. " A kid with limited money that is." Take into consideration that if the price is right and other people approve i will buy the exact setup you or someone else suggests.

one more thing

well i work at best buy so i got the discount , but you just have to buy a little at a time i would start with a amp for your speakers, and maybe a cap. then go onto a sub and amp. it took me about 1 to get what i got now in it.

the kickers are decent woofers, but would you turn down an all infinity setup for this price?
this is the setup I recommend:
Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8EUngvtcRC4/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=67700&I=108PER121&search=infinity+-harman&SearchDisplay=Infinity&wmsf=1

if you get that and this amp, you'll save $100 off the subs, this setup would slam and have the signature Infinity sound quality. I used to have these 2 12s and I wish I didn't get rid of them :(
here's the amp to complete the deal:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8EUngvtcRC4/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=130&I=108R610A&search=infinity+-harman&SearchDisplay=Infinity&wmsf=1

wire it parallel in with these subs and boom! 650 watts of contiuous power

My setup is an Alpine 9811
2 alpine Type-s 10" subs
alpine Type-S 6.5" mids all the way around
and a cheap amercian legacy 800 watt amp (will replace with MTX)

I love my stereo. The built in crossover in the headunit is so nice. Those subs have good sound quality but adjust the sub level and your ears start to hurt.

haha, I love how everyone just takes the opportunity to list their s**t...

I love my Image Dynamics... heh heh heh, but with only 500 or 600, you probably couldn't get an amp too. ;)

Anyways, I agree with Spencey. Infinity makes good stuff... sounds really good. =) I disagree that kickers are nice... but everyone here who knows me knows that. hehehehe.

I'd say go the Infinity route... unless you want nothing but loud and messy bass. ;)

Well IMO just check on ebay u can find alot of good equipment at the price your're looking to spend. Image Dynamics IDQ series are goin on ebay for good prices, plus as far as amps look for some of the old school amps, by Rockford Fosgate, Kenwood, Orion, Alpine etc U should be able to find some great deals on these amps.

Infinity's are great for the price and they can handle alot of power. That is what I have, but I'd really recommend Alpine.

I run a single R 12" in a slotport, it does the trick.

infinity's are hot and im kinda iffy on the rockford fosgate amps, they lose their power over time but overall they are good working and looking amps..crutchfield is really pricy but you might find what you want by looking through their catalogs.

Well, I have a 600W 5 channel Directed Amp pushing Orion 6X9's, MB Quart Components up front and a 10" Kicker comp. I think it's plenty of power for a civic. It's clean, loud and provides plenty of bass. It's not even fully tuned only b/c I've been too lazy to take it back to the shop for them to fine tune it. It's good enough for me for now.

Good luck cause a good clean system makes driving that much more relaxing even when you're in traffic.
