I swapped out my 2 year old panasonic head unit for this in dash MP3/DVD/CD Receiver. Men what a difference. The previous head unit was limited when it came to adjusting the music. This in dash comes with some handy options to fine tune your system. I'm soo much happier with the sound comming from my Boston Acoustics now. Everything is clear and precise. WOW!

924deg : No detach control piece. Instead it has a security code you enter. Should the system be disonnected to the battery, it won't operate until you enter your security code

VolcomMag: That was my first choice, but the alpine is 1100 compared to this I got for $775 brand spanking new with the manufactuerer's warranty and all. I've personally slept on panasonic head units in the past. Not any more. They have some pretty bad ass units this year with all sorts of options to adjust your system. What sold me too about this one is the fact it has no separate brain unit. All the connections are behind the unit itself. I'm happy and get alot of compliments on it.

I was waiting for such a comment. THe unit will be absolutely useless to whoever steals it. Like I said once it's disconnected from it's power source, you'll need the security code to operate the unit. Resetting the memory does not clear the code; The only way to get the code is to call Panasonic themselves; And since the unit is registered with Panasonic with my name and personal info, there is no chance of a thief getting the access code.
