I can understand the theory, however, I personally won't be squirting water into any running engine I own. First assess the carbon build up. I would try many other ways before resorting to "steam cleaning". Wait, was this even brought up by OP?

Lol no it wasn't. And like you said there's plenty of other methods to clean carbon buildup
