well, since you have a sony headunit, i would just pick up some sony speakers. i like pioneer myself. wal*mart had some 5.25's for about $50, and about $60 for the 6x9's. those prices are for a pair of each. that's not too expensive, and if you're not a big stereo sound junky, it should fit your needs. they will be good for ya.

No! Please don't buy any xplod products. They're all shitty in my experience.

Most any reputable name aside from them will suit you... but Sonys blow easily as hell. Especially if you listen to any type of rap.

Fronts are actually 6 1/2". And I have some Alpine Type S up front and they sound pretty clean.

Yeah I have some Alpine Type S also that I have been really happen with.. They sound nice right off the deck its plenty of bass for me.. And I listen mostly to Metal, and alittle rap. Have not blown anything. As far as xplods go I have road with some people who had them before.. They are ok, I dont know how they are as far as blowing. But they just didnt seem to sound as well with all types of music.

xplods just don't sound full to me. It's missing something.. i'm not sure if it's some midrange, or some bass.. but something isnt right..

Here are some speakers that are AWSOME for the price:

Soundstream PCS6.5 Picasso Ultra-Range 6.5" (fronts)
Good low/mid range tones, crisp highs.

Soundstream XTS6.5 XStream Full-Range 6.5" (fronts)
Hits a little harder than the Picasso's, but not at the same level of clarity.

Soundstream XSC.6 Xstream Component Speakers 6.5" (fronts)
Same as the XTS6.5, but in a component setup (separate tweeter, crossover)

SoundStream Tarantula SST6.9 6x9" (rear)
Great sound, great clarity. Awsome setup for someone not looking to have subs

Soundstream PCS6.9 Picasso Ultra-Range Speakers 6x9" (rears)
Nowhere near the quality of the Tarantula line, but still a quality speaker, and about half the price.

I've heard all these speakers with my own ears, and while there is better stuff out there, the quality you get for the price you pay is outstanding.

Don't think Best Buy or Circuit City will carry any Sound Stream products.

Your stock speaker wires are fine, not unless you want to amp your speakers.

Right now I am using the same wires. But when I had my SI I rewired everything with higher quality wire. Pain in the butt. Hooking up the whole system and everything alone and it took me 14 hours (it was also my first time.) So you can do it. I am not a super sound system nut, so i am sure there is someone that would tell you not to.
