new theft deterrant idea, will it work?

call it over the top, or OCD, but this is my idea.. take the keyless entry pad from ford, install it somewhere in the car (interior), remove the key-in ignition module and replace it with a push button start, and install a toggle switch. here how it would go: u flip the toggle switch which powers the keypad so u can punch in a code that will unlock power to the push button, then hit the push button and start yur car. but i was thinkin that the key still have to be "on", so u can relocate the key-in module to the glove box or something. i dont know about yur glove box, but mine has all my unpaid speeding tickets in it, so....i know this is probably the most retarded post in the history of all posts, but i wanna try it, and i just wanna know what yall think about it

I think it'd be pretty pimp to be honest... but it would only stop the basic thief.. the one who jams something into the ignition to start the car. A real thief would probably be able to easily bypass it. If it were cheap though, it'd probably be worth doing.

Not a bad idea either way. Definitely adds to the coolness factor if nothing else. lol. (Ok, when you get in the car.. flip the switch located ________ that will activate the entry pad. Input the activation code and a secret panel will open up revealing the ignition.. put the key in, push the start button and you're ready to go.

my dad had a M5 for like 2 years and it is like the sickest thing alive under full throttle. i saw mr and mrs smith and i cried when they blew up the 5 series. and sorry to disappoint all those who wish they were M5s in that movie, they were 540i's (if not 528's)

i was also thinking of putting in those keypads on the doors after shaving the handles, and perhaps replacing the trunk emblem with a reverse camera thing.....

why not just do this...

have a universal key that will slide in the ignition. inside this key (really a sheeth) are "teeth". this contraption would have a different key which when turned, would lock the teeth into place.

wire up your ignition so that there is an additional wire that must be connected in order to start your car.

then run all your ignition wires through a braided steel tube. However, first glue (and let dry lol) in the additional wire into the steel tubing.

So if a would-be thief tried to break in....

a) he couldn't force the ignition over via screw driver
b) if he cut the braided steel pipe, he would sever the additional wire. Hopefully he wouldn't recognize this additional wire glued into the tube.

....

screw it.. an immobilzer would work much better lol

Why not just do a this, would be pretty easy.. get a small receiever and a small broadcasting signal for you car.. you have the reciever attached to your key or keychain, and the ignition won't work unless the reciever and broadcasting signal communicate. It'd have to be a unique ID for each signal and reciever.. or you could do something where there's a switch in your car (somewhere hard to hell to find, but still reachable) and you flip it to the complete the ignition circuit.

i dont see how it's going to work.... the wiring if at all possible would be incredibly hard

but if you get it to work nobody is ever going to want to buy your car with the chopped up ignition system
