If the vtec system began to malfunction and you had a spare y7 head. Or if the timing belt snapped and you destroyed the valves on the y8 head. Y7 heads are much cheaper. I've seen stranger swaps.
its not strange its stupid, y8 heads are at the most 100 bucks

best swap Ive seen was a gm 4.3 turbo (typhoon/cyclone) swap into a conquest

A GM into a DSM? Woah. That must have been interesting to say the least.

And yeah, those turbo 90s dodge vans were kinda cool. Good sleeper vehicles to say the least, especially when built.

conquest's and starions come with a chrysler engine to begin with that has little to no aftermarket support. Its more of a GM replacing mopar wrapped in Mistubishi

My first car was a 89 Shelby CSX with a 2.2 turbo, ugly but it was fun and walked any dsm that didnt have more than stock boost. Also had a 86 daytona turbo z, paid 300 bucks for it with 83k on the clock and cost 30 bucks to get it running. Great engines just in garbage chassis (except I do like the turbo z daytonas and shelby lancers)

If you have a solenoid that looks like this on the motor (corner of the head) then you have VTEC.

last time i was at the drag strip saw a dsm with a 383 stroker motor converted to just rwd get walked on by the same model dsm that still had the boosted and obvily built 4g63 in it the guys face was pricelss lol.
