Oh God! A Supercharger!

I know, if i boost a D I should do a turbo. I know, with the right turbo I would have almost no turbo lag. I know, a turbo D has higher Hp output potential than a supercharged one. I know, turbo would be cheaper than a supercharger. Now that we're all through with that, I still want a supercharger. Jackson Racing make s a supercharger for the D15B7. Would this fit my JDM D15B without problems? I would assume I wouldn't have too much trouble. Anybody have any experience with this?

if you like it man get it, torque on a small car lke a civic would be fun as hell, id be like driving a car with a v6. as far as fitment, it should fit i would think, i would think the only diff between the usdm and the jdm d15b would be compression or internals or cam timing or whatever, so it should fit. but don't quote me on that, good luck though

any particular reason why you still want a supercharger? Not trying to talk you out of it by any means.. just curious.

i would rock a supercharger if they were cheaper, supercharger wine would be sexy and would suprise a lot of people coming out of my civic. its different too, i mean, im gonna turbo mine, but supercharger is a good option too

I'd def do the SC if it weren't so damn expensive. I might as well get a swap for what JR is charging.

my buddy had a s/c 99 ex, thing had some torque big time, if i knew all the work he had done i would help ya out, but i don't, all i know is he had to replace the block because he overboosted it

The reason is it would be something different, I have no personal experience with turbos, the majority of my friends with turbos either blow their engines regularly or get miserable gas mileage, and again I have no desire to drill holes in my oil pan and worry about how I, an inexperienced mechanic, would manage to make a good running kit. I know, I should be able to learn, but with the people around here, I'm not hopeful. People mostly pay to get this stuff installed and I can't afford that. Plus I've always liked the idea of a supercharger being immediate power and I have no aspirations for big horsepower. 142 would be fine for me.

plus with the Jackson racing kit (which is now $1995) I can still get the Greddy header I've wanted for a while.

some things that you guys say totally throws me off..
u don't want big hp but ur making a $2000 worth of upgrade...thats essentially for HP..
and u'll get shitty mileage with a SC as well..not to mention ur SC will be feeding off ur belts and block..
i'm not trying to sway u toward turbo whatsoever...just sayin the logic behin it maybe needs to be thought out...
if ur not into HP i would use the $2G's on something else..:thumbs up

remember being different is one thing..but getting the most for ur money is the smart thing.. ;)

yuuuup, especially when you could piece together a turbo for half that price (a very good one on that budget)

i have no f**king clue how to put together a turbo kit. I know, with the supercharger always spinning, my gas mileage is going down just like a turbo. i retract my mileage statement. I still would prefer to bolt something on that i have been told would be easier than a turbo. If I was to go turbo, I'd probably go with a Greddy kit, though they claim it wont work properly on my JDM D15B.

You'd need to contact Jackson Racing and they'll be able to tell you exactly.

But since I didn't get to when test driving a JRSC D15B7,... kill one of those assholes in a Probe GT who think they are fast. :D

cool beelzebubba. And from EVERYONE that I've talked to about NOS, it's definitely very fun and a bang for your buck, but it certainly does its share to blow an engine. plus I want power that is always put to the ground. im not ragging on NOS because NOS is very cool, but it's not what I want right now.

i have a stock internal d16y8... ive been spraying it with nitrous for almost 5 years.. i stoed counting after about 80 bottle fills.. and im sure ive filled it 20 more since that.. 100 fills... 10lbs a fill is over a thousand pounds of nitrous through this little motor.. still starts up.. still is very reliable.. not a single issue.. ;)

im not trying to start anything here, but lets do some simple math...

roughly $500 for simple nitrous kit. plus he has stated that he has filled his bottle about 100 times. at an average of $20 per fill that is about $2000 he has spent on refilling the bottle.

so... he has spent $2500 on his nitrous over the past 5 years.
with turbo. homemade kit costs $500 to $2000. premade kit costs $1500 to $3500.
with supercharger it costs $2000 and up. cost for using supercharger or turbo over the years... 0

so i see you have spent so far on your nitrous $2500, a supercharger or turbo would actually be cheaper in the long run.

your right.. but for a LOT of people there is a HUGE difference between putting up $3,000 at once.. and over 5 years.. and another thing.. ive seen many boosted hondas come and go over the last 5 years.. lol NOT saying one is better than the other.. but i just dont know too many people who have had a turbo stock internal honda last 5 years.. NOT saying it cant happen.. im sure it can, i just never hear about it..

just like how i rarely hear about a car with nitrous last for five years without blowing the engine.

anytime you increase a stock cars output you will sacrifice its lifespan. some get lucky and last for years, some arent lucky and it only lasts a couple of months.
