DEFINATELY. Its uneven and looks like ass. Pulling out your gauge cluster is a nono. Too fragile I was super carefula sn till busted my speedo. The needles ona 96-00 dont come off either.

if your needles are lexan, you can use leds wired in back of the needle to make it glow any color. That's what I did to make my 7thgen needles blue. I think in older models the needes aren't actually lit up. They're just visible because of some kind of top lighting.

96-00 usdm needles will not glow. the needles are made of plastic. the only way a needle can glow is if the needles are made out of lexan.

heres my gauges.

i dont think it's gay.

If you put a bigger and one with more output UV neon, i think it will lit up you gauges.

Anekin... are the needles easier to see with UV ?
You used regular paint?

Are they still visible in the night when you paint them with a sharpie?

sorry, couldnt find the right answer to my question while using the search.
I painted my needles orange to match my Autometer Phantom gauges. I primed them first. I have white face reverse glow overlays. The light no longer shines through the needles. I use my tach because I know the speed of my car by which rpm and gear I am at.

well i don't recommend you to pull of the needles....

here in Holland ppl say you have to pull them off in order to change the gauge plates... a lot of ppl do it over here, some destroy their gaugecluster, some don't. Just don't do it.

Do a search with the keyterms : gauge +needles. I think you will see that everyone here says: DO NOT PULL THE NEEDLES OFF!
