i've already read some reviews on it but i want to know what you guys think AND what pioneer head unit (such as the DEH-P4800MP or any other ipod ready units) you guys have with this adapter.
how great is the quality compared to cds? and would it be wise to order off ebay or amazon? pros? cons?
thanks!

quality is great... browsing for songs is hard.

I have a sony xplod ??150?? (bought it a few weeks ago at bestbuy)... and what pisses me off, is everytime I turn the car off, it restarts the ipod from the very begining (not of the song, or album, but the begining of the entire ipod)... It really pisses me off right now.

Another thing, is if Im browsing by artist, etc. It goes 1 at a time thru the artists, with about 1-2 second delay between artists. If you have 75 artists on your ipod, thats a LONG TIME.

I usually just leave it on shuffle, and keep skipping, til i find a song I like..
Most Ipod compatable units ive played with are HARD to navigate.

Honestly I have one, and other than having it charge the iPod I'm not sure if it was worth it.. I have the p7700, and the controls and scrolling are hard to get used to at first and then just plain annoying... If I wasn't lazy, it wasn't freezing outside, and I didn't like where I installed it, THEN I would swap it back out for the IPbus to RCA converter and then run a rca to mini plug wire and plug it into the headphone jack if you like the normal iPod controls... and having it handy...

its a personal choice really, I'm content with mine, scrolling is tough sometimes, but I have a smaller iPod and love every song on it, so I don't really mess with it much

I will probably be switching out to a newer Alpine soon... I like the quality better, and the interface is simplier

hmm doesn't sound like this adapter is the best... can anyone recommend good ones for my pioneer DEH-P4800MP deck? and that is compatible with other decks (just in case i get a new deck)?

how does the AUX input compare?

the aux input is great as far as sound goes, looses a little more clarity than the adapter, hardly noticeable to teh untrained ear or on stock speakers, if you like the controls of the iPod is worth it CD-RB10 i think is the cable

an easy way to couple that with a charger, and have a semi-custom install is to use the Belkin Auto Kit charger, and plug the mini jack into that... that way there is only one wire to hook up to the ipod
did that in my sisters car with her factory radio, and she loves it

i was looking at the CD-RB10 but i came across another one, CD-I200.

im leaning towards the CD-I200, or just going to the source to get the AUX ipbus cable and connecting it to the earphone jack of my ipod.

i have a full sound system in my car with aftermarket speakers and sub.

The CD-I200 will not work with your headunit, it will only work with:
AVIC-D3
AVH-P5900DVD
DEH-P4900IB
DEH-P5900IB
DEH-P790BT

The CD-RB10 is your best bet, it can be used with almost every pioneer unit that has an IP Bus

i have the cd-IB100II and i like the fact that everything is hidden in the glove / behind the deck. sounds great, only complaint is it is hard to control the ipod through the head unit.

I've had two Alpine 9856's and loved them (that's why I got another one). The only downside is it takes a little while to get to artists that start with the letter 'm'. I would browse by artist and find an album I liked then play the entire album before switching. If you want to change after every single song this is not what you want! However, if browsing albums at a time it's faster than going through your CD case and switching CDs. Keep an eye out for a new deck from Alpine that has display, navigation, and speed virtually identical to the iPod. It will go for about 450 and be out around April. That's what I'm getting since my last 9856 was stolen.

ive gotten used to the controls... and i like having my iPod tucked away up in the sunglass holder in my accord

working on a new setup for my sisters car that involves dismantling a tape deck... keep an eye out for that

I'm not a big fan of Pioneer head units.
& my favorite iPod adaptor that we sell at Best Buy is the Harman Kardon Drive + Play which comes out to be a little over $200 with installation and the proper wires and everything.

Not a fan of FM modulators, even though the HK is one of the best ones, it still degrades the already compressed music.... SQ goes down the crapper, By far my favorite interfaces are the new Alpines
