I got the Pioneer DEH-P490IB in my '93 hatch. Had it installed at the Stereo Whorehouse. They didn't hook it into a constant powerline so I have to reset the EQ everytime I start the car. Annoying. Had them put the IPOD cord out of sight. Bought a new IPOD 30 gigapet colorscreen. Plugged it in and it played for a few days. Somehow the deck sucked all the life out of the IPOD and left it with the Pioneer logo faintly displayed on the IPOD screen. Can't reset/restore ect ect back to life again. Gotta' drive back to CircurCity on my day off and get a new one. Good thing I opted for the 2 year insurance plan. Pioneer has made most of the EQ tuning automatic. This I do not much care for. You have to select one of their preselected EQ's and kinda' work around their sound. Oh you can go to the "Custom EQ" setting and again select some of their sound perimeters. I will be much happier once the constant wire is connected and I will be able to whittle the sound to my liking. If I wasn't such a materialistic shallow pig I'd use the DIN cavity for something more useful like gauges or cup holder and hang an old AM transistor radio around the rearview mirror. Listening to the drone of the fuel pump on my K24a2 is kinda' sweet, but the chicks don't understand. Alpine makes nice decks. But I'm an 'ol 'ol man anyhow.
