Not related to link... Handlebarsfsr, ive read many of your replies and admire your knowledge. You said a B could handle 250whp reliably, can you kindly give me an example of such setup.
I have a gsr halfcut arriving shortly, but there are SO many products out there for a b series i dont know which to choose from. Could someone help? Would jdm itr pistons for $250aud be beneficial towards boosting? I am leaning towards boosting, so i suppose i shouldnt touch engine, exhaust work until i saved up enough for a custom turbo kit.. Btw for NA cars, it is good to have 2.25in exhaust, what about turbo vtec?

do NOT get itr pistons, that will raise compression ratio, which is bad for boost. without being specific, a medium sized t3/4 turbo, a good intercooler, manifold, etc- all the basics for a turbo. a good tune, with a aem ems, hondata, uberdata, or other full tunealbe ecu (vafc/fpr are NOT acceptable), and you want a 3" exhaust. thats about all you need. but thats not the end of it- the car needs to be able to handle all that power. a lsd is mandatory if you want to get any traction, as is a stiff clutch, some good quality coilovers, etc. its not cheap.

High compression is not necesarily bad for boost. If you have the right design piston, high compression turbo motor works just fine. Most setups are low compression to prevent easy detonation, but certain piston designs with the right bore size can get you a Flat Top 11:1 B-series piston on a 84mm bore block. We've even built 12:1 compression turbo race motors for a couple Pro racers out there.
No matter what piston and compression you have, it all comes down to the tuning. Each of these setups are finely tuned and thats why they work well. Low Compression turbo motor does give less chance of detonation since compression is already low, thats why the preference of low compression in turbo motors.
