So I bought this shift knob a long time ago in canada at one of these cheap japanese auto accessary and it was like a teal blue. At the time, I thought it fit well in my car......with the blue neons and leds. But my taste in style has changed, so I decided to embark on polishing it. I started with a file (was somewhat a bad idea), then used 220 grit to get all the paint off, then 600 grit, 1500 grit, and Mothers aluminum polish (amazing stuff....you'll see).
Here's the start of it and you can get a good idea of the original color.
I think this was after 1500 grit sandpaper.
And then the final product. I was simply amazed by the result.
It took me quite awhile, but I am so proud of it (stupid I know). No company logos, no symbols, no gear numbers, just clean.
