push to start button

is there any kind of aftermarket systems that allow for a push to start and kill button with a proximity key on a 92-95 civic (specifically a 94 lx automatic)

wait. are you asking for a push to start, or a remote start? regardless there are options for both. or are you referring to an option like on nissans, where the push to start only works with the key close to the car? i looked into that a while ago, basically the only way to do it that i found was to actually go to a nissan dealer and buy the replacement system. but it was like 500 bucks.

Thats what i was looking for. less chance of it being stolen. but 500 is a lil pricey...

No car is thief-proof. If thieves really want it, they'll get it.

The best thing you can do is to install things that will slow them down. Kill switches, boot, remove the steering wheel, take out the battery, re-route your hood latch cable, weld your doors and hood shut and get bullet proof glass, etc.

you forgot planting claymore around your car on proximity timers.

hey man!!! woot. sorry it took so long, but i found some stuff. there is actually alot available out there. The problem i had finding it was searching for the right words, i kept searching for proximity unlock, and what you need to search for is RFID car alarm. thats the technology behind all that fancy stiff, radio frequency identification detection. hear is one that i found in a few seconds.

im sure there are better quality systems out there. but just to let you know, it is possible. and im totally going to do it. anyways. to do what you want you would just hook up that system and then hook up a push to start button. its pretty simple actually. good luck.

I see a fancy gadget to start a car but I see nothing about security. Like I said, if thieves want it, they'll take it.

And that RFID technology is a waste of money in a car. Maybe in the future but I can't see that being practical in todays society. Company I work for uses the technology for badges and swiping open doors, punching in/out, etc.

ummmm...you know all the new cars..like nissan and all that? yeah, they all use rfid to get into the car. soo...the future is now!!!!! also, like, it locks when you leave...i don't see how its any less safe than an average key lock. you know, regardless of what lock you have, the car has WINDOWS!!! so...its really really easy to steal them and to fix it its only 100 bucks new, even cheeper to get a new window at a junk yard. so...as far as security goes, it really doesn't matter how fancy the lock, you will still have windows...so...really its all pointless. if someone wants your car, they are probably going to take it....just saying.
oh, and 94fourdoor, pm me if you want to know how to get your car to start COMPLETELY, without a key, you just put the ignition on a toggle switch and then flip it on and push the start button. bam... its a little less safe, cuz if someone breaks into your car they can just flip it on and go, but like i said before, if someone wants it they are going to take it anyways.

cool, thanks... i was searching the wrong keywords too lol, i think im gonna get that.
i might have a way to skip doing the toggle on. if you use a trigger relay and connect it to the "car run" wire, and hook it up to the unlock button, the pulsed output of the door locks will lock the relay open, then when you get in the car its already on and all you have to do is push the start button. however i guess you would still have to have a "kill" switch. hmm...im sure that there is some way that you could do it. but for safety means i guess its better to just have a kill switch.
