question regarding y7 and y8 intake

Alright a friend of mine ended up losing his civic a few days ago. He decided to part it out and has offered the intake to me for $20 and it's off a d16y8. I read on here that the y8 is a upgrade for my y7 intake. But would there be any problems since my civic is a non-vtec motor.

Y7 manifold exits at the top, Y8 is at the side. So if you want a y8 intake you need a y8 manifold as well.
