Stick with the three basic companies, Kenwood, Alpine, Pioneer.
i'm gonna go out on a limb here but no matter the disagreement with caps, eggy, lethal and i can all agree that there are far better companies for amps. for example i love the arc stuff, and as eggy pointed out the new Vibe stuff is just a clone of the Arc minis, and those little guys blow away any kenwood amp I've ever seen or heard. there are a LOT better choices for amps out there than those 3. that was just one example. MBQuart, Audison, Arc, and Vibe (as previously mentioned). i'd say get away from "the three basic companies" unless you're looking at a head unit.

I will say this..every company bad or not, always has that one interesting product.

For the most part, kenwood amps are pretty basic, but this amp is very special

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_19415_Kenwood_Excelon_KAC-X4R.aspx

Has a very very nice onboard processor which means precise crossover, time alignment, and EQ adjustments can be made entirely on-board the amp.

Can't really beat that for 289.

I can touch head units but to be honest, I will leave the amp recommendations up to you guys. I am completely out of the loop when it comes to what is a good brand now a days. I am running Phoenix gold amps, but they are the old technology from before they were bought out (at least I heard that they were, don't know if they actually were or not). I LOVE my PG amps, but I have absolutely NO idea what brand is comparable today. For example, I have never heard of Arc, Audison, or Vibe. I have been doing stereo systems for over 15 years but when it comes to the newer companies, I am in the dark.

So is this the kinda amp I need to get?

I was looking at something like this:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Kenwood+-+1000W+Class+D+Mono+Amplifier+with+Low-Pass+Crossover/9763215.p?id=1218169463744&skuId=9763215&st=Amp&cp=1&lp=1

or Should I go with like a kicker or fosgate amp? And what size of amp should I go with for these 2 subs?
