who would sell an unsafe safety product you ask?
let me list them... just a handfull..

heres a nice set of seats with a disclaimer that sounds worse than buying a gun...

heres a safety harness that is off road use only.. funny to buy a seatbelt that you can ONLY use OFF the road?

APC being fined... for safety issues..
http://www.dot.gov/affairs/nhtsa2103.htm

oh and while we are on the APC kick.. how about monkey bars... roll cage "replica" lol that sound pretty undsafe to me.. no offense man.. but as long as these companies DONT have to meet any standard to get your money.. they will take your money while investing the LEAST they can in the product thus maximizing profit..

I am glad you are researching, and like I said before READ THE FINE PRINT before you buy a seat. In the disclaimer the company said they are not held responsible for anything. So who would buy these seats....a dummy. Also I never said anything about roll bars I was only talking about seats. If I was buying roll bars to protect me and belts, yeah I would def. get something GOOD. See now you are trying to throw stuff in to make you sound like you are right. If you can get a set of seats for $300 a set and the company provides a warranty and says they are safe then why not get them? Because they aren't name brand or don't cost a $1000?

because companies lie... and there is no standard they are being held to...so again.. to just buy seats with no safety standards imposed.. you may or may not get a seat that is safe in an impact... its really that simple? im not "trying to be right" im simply stating the facts.. and the facts are.. that buying a random ebay seat.. that carries no approval by any sanctioned body.. recaro for example makes seats to fia standards.. just take a look at all the s**t that goes into the seats that they sell..

Thanks Oc... I didnt think anyone else understood my point...

You guys didnt see the special they did on aftermarket seats where they tested to see how many g forces it took to rip apart commonly used aftermarket seats? It was truly scary.. Some of those seats coming apart with g forces equivalent to a 30 mph crash.. or a very fast decelleration from the same speed

Just stick with stock until you can get something that is OEM in another car or something quality and TESTED..

yea..most people dont see the safety concerns when it comes to seats. When you buy recaro's...your not only paying for the seats and the comfort, but you are also paying for the safety and the time that went into making those seats safe for you and things like that. in the end, i think for seats, you get what you pay for.

I actually have a shitty set of these in the red hatchie. Paid 50 bucks for em. They are constantly coming loose. I actually had the sew them to keep them from moving out of place. Turns out were puting the orginal stock seats back in after we get them reupolistered. At least they are comfortable and safe. Oh yeah, I got the $275 ebay seats too but haven't had any problem with them. :what:

30 mph crash... no way man... thats reaaalllly hard to believe... i mean.. comeon,.. 30 mph crash wont even get your stereo lose... haha...well i dunno.. but ur certantly are right..... they must be safer.. but i just wanted to kno ho unsafe the other were.. and well 30 mph crash and seat ripping off sounds pretty bad.... so... now i guess.. ill save up for those damn 1000 dolla seats.... but.. i didnt kno u needed the bars to have the harness... is it really necesary.... ?...

again, im just building a mild showcar.. im not going to be into to much racing with this.. so i could prob go with cheap bars no?.... i dont plan on racing this car... i just want it to look nice...

yeah, i think it was 30 mph.. you also have to understand that they had 180lb dummies harnessed into the seats so its possible..especially at a complete, instant stop

yes.. if the car ever rolled while wearing the harness.. with no roll bar.. you will more than likely snap your neck and die or become paralyzed....

do you mount the harness onto the roll bar or do u have to get another harness bar to mount that. ive seen the sparco harness bars... but im sure they dont dual function as a roll bar.....
