ok im going to be getting a whistler 1730 cop radar...

what does the city, vg2, and quiet bottons do on top?

Quite amcked it not beep. City and it'll only beep at signals that are like 99 percent sure are radar. cause there's alot of signals it can pick up. i dunno about the other one

on the whistler that i have the quiet is to put the unit in silent mode. tha city function is for city driving so the unit doesnt pick up every single signal the city has to offer. the vg2 mode i believe is to pick up radar detector detectors that the cops are equipped with. thats right they can tell if you have a detector in your vehicle. hope this helps you out.

vg2 cloaks your radar to radar detector detectors. So cops cant tell that you have a radar detector.
City drops the effective range of the radar detector, but engages some filters that trys to weed out, garage doors, drive through that kind of stuff

You see thats a great question because i have been stopped and been threatened with a citation for having a radar detector but never actually received a ticket. I usually leave mine on highway with normal sounds.

I'm not by any means calling you a liar but i didnt know that whistler made a device that cloaks your radar. in my owners guide for my whistler the vg just tells you when the cops are searching for radar. It makes sense too because they can use that mode to detect your radar and get close enough that when they turn the clock on it's to late for you. but hey maybe my owners guide is bullshit.

maybe for that model it is just a warning, I know on the higher models from whistler, cobra etc.... They claim vg2 cloaking. I vaguely remember that detector and I do beleive it was a vg2 alert rather that cloaking

so when ur on vg2(cloaking) will it still pick up radars? y not just leave it on vg2 all the time? is it bc it will pick up other stuff also....and thats what city is for?

VG2 is for us guys in Virginia, or people driving though VA.. VA & washington D.C are the olny places they are illegal. I live in VA & alway have my radar with me, & always keep VG2 on

clicl the city button if it says city then click it again it should switch to highway or like city 2 or 3 ect. if not then u got a cheapo that will proove to be worthless if you speed

???? also y have highway on all the time? does highway only pick up cops?
