Ram Air (forced intake)

ram air is NOT forced induction because at WOT you will never reach positive gauge intake manifold pressure at any speeds conceivable with a civic. its simply more efficient natural aspiration

the easiest way to make a "ram air" style intake is to run a tube from your intake box to the front bumper (the foglight opening works best) while utilizing an air bypass valve upstream of the air filter
QFT

if that needle doesnt go past 0 it is not forced induction..

I picked 80 mph on a whim. You are probably correct sir. You'll probably need to go faster than that.

The Kawasaki ZX9R achieves positive intake pressure at WOT from it's Ram Air system at 150 mph.

Good luck getting to 150+ with a D16Y8 and a Ram Air intake.

wide open throttle. thanks.

i think i'm still going to try this set up. something similar to the integra ram air that someone posted earlier. i'll use the foglight duckt. this reminds me of my 89 bmw 325i. if anyone is familiar, remember they have four round headlights. the two outer headlights are the regular lights while the two inner headlights are the brights. i used to remove the driver's side bright light because thats exactly where the OEM intake hose sat. while on the freeway or on big main streets i did notice (on the butt dyno) an increase of power. the car picked up a bit faster and excelerated with greater ease. now, that car was a 2.5L inline six but i think i can still get some results with the 1.7L inline four. anyway, i'll build it and let you know what happens. thanks for all your help!
