the MAF went on the fritz (sp?) but i should have it back by this morning....

the old typeARRGGH had a meltdown or something, the guy tallked to me over the weekend...after he drove it home, it wouldnt start...he did EVERYTHING, changed almost everything, even pulled the motor and worked on it....could not get it to start back up...which is odd, because ive never really had any mechanical problems with the motor

he wasnt specific....all he told me was "ive done everything to that motor, and i can not get it started"

about the maf, he said he checked the other stuff, and nothing showed up as being bad...said there was some soot on the spark plugs, and then he tossed on a MAF he had in the shop, car run much better...then he checked the TPS, because one of the mechanics still noticed a "slight" hisitation every now and then...but apparently he's got it up and running...just got the call about 10 minutes ago...

as far as the guy witht he hatch, no, he's not going to try....its not like he's out of a car....the guy has mroe cars than i would know what to do with....within the last 2 weeks, hes picked up 2 bone stock 5th gen hatchies...one he got from the original owner, old ladie, 47k original miles

So the car was running rich? A maf would cause that and that slight hesitation would be from the car running rich.
