Rims or timing belt first?

I'm going on 95k miles and haven't replaced my timing belt yet for my 98 ex. Money is extremely tight right now and i'm resorting to my credit card that has a $1,000 limit. Was planning on dropping the $220 to get my new rims/tires mounted/balanced and aligned. But realizing that i'm within the mile range to replace my timing belt, that is kind of making me nervous.

If I had to choose, i'd do my timing belt which would roughly go for $400-$500?.... BUT then i'd have to hold off another month with my fresh rims/tires laying around my room TEASING ME and have to drive on rusty rinky dink looking steelies :(

I could do both rather than choosing one, but I don't wanna risk the chance of not getting enough money prior to the month ending to pay off my credit card.

pretty much i'm in a dilemma over what's necessary and what's NOT.

I looked at the timing belt and its not tearing or looks beat up. I hardly ever bang out gears. all i could say is that it has a slight browning color to it (rust?) but very minimal.

thoughts?

Doing it yourself isn't that hard... you just have to be very careful and follow directions + have an array of tools.
Why would you even question your vehicles performance over it's aesthetics? A timing belt can run for a while longer, but why.... WHY would you even risk it? I'm sure if you held it off now and got rims/tires you'd hold it off again and continue to do so. Don't make mistakes, reliability over cosmetics any day. Your car is transportation, not clothing.

Timing belt, I'd rather have I running car than a car with a timing belt that can rip any minute and destroy the engine while looking nice.

Timing belt, you see alot of people on craiglist sellin their wheels or car parts cause they need money to fix the car,ive always liked to have a good running car instead of one that looks nice but barely runs...

^^ This is what the ad says, in s**t English. Here's the tip: it's NOT comparable to OEM products. Get the damn OEM stuff and not this cheap eBay s**t.

Especially true for our cars you get out what you put in. IMO I would do the timing belt myself, the hardest part is removing the crank pulley bolt but thats about it. If you can remove that bolt and follow the instructions on the repair manual your golden.

P.S. Performance always above appearance: sell the wheels and problem solved now you have $ in hand and you dont need to use your card.

lmao if your car could talk it would say, B**** is you crazy!!???

Yeah dude, what everyone else said. Buy the OEM tensioner, water pump, and timing belt. Once the crank pulley is broken loose, you will have the timing belt replaced in an hour. It really isn't that hard.
