My friend has a 99 ex with d16y8. He is going to put eagle rods and srp pistons into it. Lowering his c/r to 9.0:1 from 9.6:1. How much boost can he run safely??

wno one can tell you. You dont rate by hp. You rate by hp/tq. THe better question is how much power can it hold... still cant tell you cuz it has to many verables.. turbo size(makes diffence in powerband), injectors size, tuning method, & other s**t

no all depend that you put rods and pistons betters , depend too to do a good tuning , which injectors do you will use.. what turbo...etc.. cuz you can to blown your engine runing still to 4 PSI though you runing with this pistons and rods..

I know he is putting in eagle rods and srp pistons thats all I know I guess he is screwed because I don't know all the info on his setup.

I know the rods can handle 550 and pistons lower the c/r to 9.0:1

He said he plans on using the stock injectors because he doesn't know if he should go bigger (I am guessing bigger don't know much about F/I as you can tell) pistons rods you know about already. ARP head studs.

He wants to know the following.

1. How much boost on good tune
2.Bigger injectors if so what size

Sorry for all this crap I don't care he does lol so if this doesn't yeild something that can produce answer then this can be closed

If your homeboy is gonnaa throw in some rods and pistons he can go a little higher than 7-8psi. Maybe 15lbs or so :what:

Yeah, that might be good. Yo might be able to go a little higher. It's hard to say tho, it depends what size turbo and what kind of tune and s**t like that

Well its a Garrett GT28R turbo and he plans on tuning with chrome, he would like a ruff estamite so he can get the right injectors

we need the size of the turbo... PSI is irrelevent without knowing the compressor size of the turbo.

oops... sorry i didnt see that post

heres the compressor map. off the top of my head i think the red line of a y8 is around 7800 correct me if im wrong... so after doing all the calculations heres where your turbo stands at redline

after futher calculations i figured out he will be at around 240hp at the crank @ redline... now someone that knows about pistons and rods can tell you if 240hp on the block will be too much stress. but you have to consider redline is where your car isnt in its power band so his max power will be higher than 240
