around 200ish @ 7800rpms give or take 10hp. remember these calculations vary from car to car and are dependant on a number of variables. you should be fine at 7psi

bah im tired of doing the stupid calculation... a stock D-series block cannot handle much more than 200whp. so as long as youre under that and have a good tune, you will be fine. or your friend will

oops... sorry i didnt see that post

heres the compressor map. off the top of my head i think the red line of a y8 is around 7800 correct me if im wrong... so after doing all the calculations heres where your turbo stands at redline

after futher calculations i figured out he will be at around 240hp at the crank @ redline... now someone that knows about pistons and rods can tell you if 240hp on the block will be too much stress. but you have to consider redline is where your car isnt in its power band so his max power will be higher than 240
nice calculations, how did you do it?

well first you have to calculate CFM in lbs/min the formula for that can be found here http://cybrina.mine.nu/MR2_Docs/compressor_flow_maps.htm

then you plot CFM with the pressure ration on the compressor map and it will give you how efficient you turbo will be at a given RPM range. (the RPM is selected when youre finding the CFM)

after that i believe the conversion from CFM to HP is 1.6CFM = 1hp. i got that from google so it may be wrong. that will give you the HP your turbo will be creating if it were 100% efficient. theres one other calculation that i cant find at the moment that will tell you how much HP your car is really making.

again HP created by a turbo is dependant on a number of variables. my calculations calculates it for when it is in a Vacuum.... but is somehow getting oxygen lol

what is that 10 out of 1million D series? thanks but i stand by what i said, that is of course unless you get your car tuned by jeff evans.

EDIT: also how many of those 10 cars are still running? just becaused they were dynoed at that hp & tq doesnt mean they lasted very long. for youre arguments sake i know #1 is still running strong.

You said a stock D block can't handle more than 200whp, which obviously it can. Who cares if its 10 out of a million. Not everbody with a D turbocharges it and even less try for more than 200whp on the stock block. That still doesn't mean it can't handle that kind of power.

With that combination i wouldnt go over 300whp because of the sleeves getting distorted under high pressure. Id say 10-13psi on a garret gt28 or gt30 would be good. PSi denpends on the CFM and efficency of the turbo.

boost around 12-14.. the gt28r turbo is a small turbo but has a fast spool.. spooling at about 2.5k rpm and full boost in another 1k rpm. boosting at 7 wont get u much..u ll be lucky to get 180-190 but it still depends on all the other parts u have. the turbo max out about 300. i got the same turbo in my room just sitting and waiting for all the other parts. when i get all the parts i'll boost about 10 psi on a stock block.
