The cylinder walls look great from what I can tell across the internet. I see a smooth wall and no grooves and there isn't any carbon build on the top of the pistons.

And about the Ls fuel rail working with the Ls injectors, they are the same identical parts except that the gsr fuel rail has a hole tapped in the top of it where some of the emissions stuff or the wiring harness bolts to. The injectors have the same flow rate also. I had both and compared them visually and then asked a honda god and he said they were the same.

I started the motor, it doesnt sound very good though. I think it might be because the tank is still full of 87.
compression test results are
245 230 240 225

heres some pics

your compression numbers suck i think that is why it sounds like ass. a varriation of almost 20 is horid. 5 is ok but anything over that means pure ass. but your car does look good on the bright side.

factory specs allow for 28psi variance between cylinders

ok what ever you say but i am telling you if you have that much variation its not good ask around.

i had it in the shop, they took care of a bunch of things for me. now i just need it inspected.

i will be putting my old motor/trans/clutch/flyweel up for sale, if your interested you can pm me, or just keep an eye out in the for sale section

it still sounds off to me, its tapping a bit, i dunno what to do about that though. maybe i didnt get the valves quite right

what gas do you use? adn what pistons are you using again?

gsr pistons. the gas that was in there was 87, i added octane booster which should have brought it to roughly 93. and then once that runs out, ill put in some 94 for a tank

right now its running good, its just kinda noisy, like i didnt get the valve quite right

someone told me that it opens up the butterflies at full throttle? or maybe at a certain rpm, or possibly a combination of the two?

i decided to pick up a blox manifold anyways, so i dont have to worry about it
The GSR has a dual runner intake plenum (so does the K20A3). A longer runner is used in lower RPM's to boost torque. AT higher RPM's it switches to a shorter intake runner to boost HP.

i was gonna say i bet it is the gas you put in. so maybe go back and readjust your valves. could it be noise from something else, ie your clutch throw out bearing?

that wouldnt make noise all the time though, would it? it sounds like its coming from the head. and its a tapping noise that varies with rpm

also, when i had the car in the shop the guy diconected the sensor that plugs in right by the crank pulley. He said the same sensor is already in the distributor and i dont need the other one. Is this because i converted the obdII motor to obdI or because im going ls to gsr? or is this guy just wrong? its not throwing any check engine lights

and i have a hose off my charcoal can that i dont know where it goes, i think its supposed to go to the throttle body, but there is no nipple for it

i hit vtec for the first time today w00t! im getting excited cause it looks like everything is good to go
and i just ordered up some innovative billet mounts
except ive had some problems with the lower torque mounts, so they arent on anymore. im wondering if the innovative mounts will be enough, or maybe i should get an ingalls to supplement them?
