not any more chance than using a stock shifter. you do always run a chance when you try to shift fast. for me... since i got my short shift i havent ground gears once (except reverse which has been grinding since before i got the car)Originally posted by 2kstreetcivic

hmmm well if you drive on auto-x's or road courses and such, you cant afford the lack of control either!!!! a short shifter is "alright" ( i guess) for drag racing....but not every day driving.Originally posted by Jerseystyle1
Because for F-1 and WRC you can afford the lack of control by keeping your hand off the wheel. I don't think any one on here is using thier civics for WRC or F1. A shifter like that might be good for a road course but for everyday driving.....Yeah I think it is dumb!

A shifter is only the lever that controls the forks in your transmission. Anyone who thinks that changing the lever will destroy the transmission needs to learn to look at things for what they are instead of spouting off BS excuses that people don't know how to shift would use. I don't care if your shifter moves an inch or a foot; if you know how to use t you're not going to ruin anything. It's just a lot easier to blame your equipment than to lose face admitting that you suck
