if i m correct...there are little squares after you take the molding off cause they are held on by clips...you would need to weld those holes shut and make it smooth

It takes alot of work, actually. To fill in JUST the holes from the clips, just weld them shut. If your going all out, and filling in the WHOLE area the moldings are in, then you'd have to take a metal peice and weld it in, grind it off so it ssmooth, and paint it.....

also...I think on the cx's, they didnt come with molding in the first place and so they come stock from the factory looking like that. otherwise you'll need to take out the moldings, weld in some metal, sand that down, and color match.

I thought it was the VXs (I know I've seen VXs without them). Eitherway, some hatches just don't have them.

if you use bondo, be prepared for it to crack. the proper way to shave your side moldings is to weld, grind, minor use of bondo, sand, primer, paint, etc. But if you are just going to use bondo, it's going to look like crap after a few months. also, be prepared to pay a pretty penny to a body shop to shave your side moldings. why not just get some thin side moldings and call it a day?

CX's and VX's didnt have them. I prefer moldings actually, especially the thin ones. Just keep them, its not worth filling the holes.

I shaved all of mine!! But you will have to weld on small squares of metal or even circles behind them!! Dont use bondo at first use long strand fiberglass!! Its lighter, stronger, and water resistant! After you basicly have it then use bondo! ....but very lightly! After that you can use a glazing putty to fill in any little pin holes or scratches! Then use sealer, primer, and their you have it!! You can use long starand fiberglass if you fill in the whole thing but just the little squares I WOULDNT! Also I have seen some people take vinyl and fill the whole molding in with the same color?? It didnt look bad but then again do they have vinly the same color of your car??

^^^ it's beautiful...

but anyways, do not use bondo unless you like sanding it down every year and re-doing it. my side moldings are shaved, but it was done with metal, so no cracks

Doesn't anyone who shaves the center lights ever get in trouble for having no backup lights?

That picture was the day after paint! I did all the work myself and none of the extras like rims ,exhaust, or lowering springs were on it yet! Hell even the motor was out!! Its a four door that bought for little to nothing and thanks to ebay and left over paint I still dont have nothing in it but time!! I just did this because I like to experiment and to turn a profit because were I live little boys eat this s**t up!! Plus im not going to beef up a motor in a 4 door !! About the reverse lights I really dont know?? I do different types of bodywork but this was a first for me!! Im pretty sure its illegal though!!

It's obviously illegal.

And not trying to be mean, but no matter what other things, wheels, motor, lowering it... none of that will make anyone on here like that car. Well, maybe some will, but they will be the minority.
