SS Autchrome Reviews: ACTUALLY HAVE PRODUCTS

I know this topic has been beaten to death. I was reading on three threads about SS Autochrome, and everyone saying they suck dont even have their parts. And i did some reasearch into some of their parts, and they use a very reputable manufacturer (Motoria). If you have their products, please give detailed feedback to you experience with them.

Even on ebay, they have a very small amount of negative feedback, and for all I know those people may not have known what they were doing.

Search around on turbod16.com , I believe some people have ran them on there. They seem pretty good if you just replace some of the minor lower quality parts that come with the kit (like the manifold, piping, and turbocharger).

The only thing I know that has been bad with their kits is on their manifolds. Its only where they weld in the stainless steel pipes to the softer metal connection that goes flush against the exhaust ports. Any one that knows anything about welding...you cant weld different hardness of metals together without something going wrong when heat is applied.

I have one of their T3/T4 turbos and they work really good. THe only thing that is like 100% s**t is their manifolds because they crack at the head flange and at the turbo flange....obviously they weld like s**t. Other than their good cheap s**t

i also heard they made a flex pipe or something that relieves the stress on those welds so they dont crack, but it's extra$$$

the person on here with the SS autochrom kit in his crx swears by it

I'm running their manifold and their intercooler.

Their manifolds suck unless you reweld them, which i did, then they're a great manifold for the price, if you do buy one, take it to a shop to have it welded, should be around $50. I had have a welder, so i bought it thinking "If it breaks, f**k it".

Their intercoolers are fantastic and i highly recommend them.

I'd like to see proof Garrett makes their internals, i've heard of people putting Garrett internals in them, not coming with them.

Are you personally running their manifold? Maybe they've made them better since last year, but the ones at this time were total junk, mine literally had parts falling off of it around 1,000 miles.

check with anyone who has taken their turbos apart. they are made with garrett parts. and garrett is the only company in the Northeast, and i think the US that manufactures turbos.

What does that have to do with anything? Those turbos are made in China (why do you think they're so cheap?). Even if they are made of Garrett internals, they're assembled cheaply in China and (from what i've heard), are very poorly balanced.

It has everything to do with it because they order the parts from Garrett...

Search homemadeturbo.com or any turbo forum where someone has experimented with the turbo. they will all tell you the internals are from Garrett. All the series they make are the same models developed by Garrett (T25, t28, t3/t4). Their listings even list them as Garrett turbos.
