Ok so i have a panasonic headunit that has started shitting out on me in the past few weeks. you go to press a button and will shut down and restart, or it will switch from like cd(if you're trying to get to the next track) to FM radio, or the lights wont turn on. I wanna fix this before I go back to school and I don't know what option to choose. The alpine stereo is badass cuz it's CD and has the option for my iPod. which i reaaaaly want. I can stick with the current one until christmas time and see if the parentals would be oh so kind for my christmas present. or i could just put back in the stock unit and play the ipod through a tape adapter since my car's factory radio had tape instead of cd. What do you think? oh the headunit is an 03 model year...isnt it kinda weird that its screwing up so soon?

You would have to use speaker level imputs...but I wouldn't recommend it.

It's funny that you mention that problem, I have a panasonic unit in my car that I put in about 3 weeks ago. The other day I was going to work, and every time I hit the eject CD button my unit would turn off (it's fine now)

Just pick up a new head unit, damn near every unit above $120 now is iPod & satellite radio ready.

wait so will it work with my sub?
will what work with your sub?

if you are referring to your stock unit, yes...you can run the input off the speaker wire but don't do it...You can use a line output converter to connect the signal via RCA cables...I wouldn't do it though, you will get some degree of interference....just buy a new unit, they aren't that expensive.

just get a head unit with a pre-out or 2 or however many amps you have. i would suggest saving up a little more, 150$ more, and get a better unit. why buy something shitty now when you can get something a lot better later?

You would be hard pressed to find a decent head unit WITHOUT rca outputs:lol:

and a $350 cd player is a monumental waste of money...if you want a real nice head unit save up a little more than that and get an in-dash unit.

he said he had 200, and this kid said save up 150 more....thus, monumental waste of money.

$200 will get you a nice headunit.

no, don't go to walmart:lol:

go to circuit city/best buy if you don't plan installing it yourself. Circuit City actually runs some good prices (around here at least) and offer free installation.

What I usually do is go check out units there then get the model # and froogle that s**t:mrgreen:

Watch out for some sellers on ebay though, I bought a alpine from there, they said it was brand new in box. The unit said on it manufactured like a year before the auction ended and it was clearly not new in box, he didn't include the alpine harness and the unit was pretty much doa with his cd stuck inside, so 120 bucks more later, I could have bought the same thing bran new, I got it for 220 shipped on ebay. But now my cd player works better then new, and I love it. its a cda-9853

that sucks... i usually only buy from sellers who show me whats inside the box, all the necessary hardware, plastics, wires and bolts and such. Never had a problem, always buy from 100% rated people, and always buy insurance.
