I am thinking of straight piping my car with a bolt on. Should give me good hp since I have DC headers and Skunk2 intake manifold. What ya guys think???

Just so I'm not mistaken, straight piping you car is just taking out the cat and doing straight pipe from the header to the muffler? I don't suggest you do it, I heard without the cat, your exhaust system gets really raspy. Plus the fact that you'll get pulled over everytime you touch the gas it'll be so loud.

Plus, you're in long beach, so don't you have to worry about smog tests?

Yeah, about the smog. That's why I'm thinking bolt on. When smog testing time comes around. I bolt on the CAt converter back on and then test. About the sound if it's too load I plan to just take it off. But about the raspy stuff... what do you mean??

i think what he means is the B-pipe (the piping between the cat. converter and the muffler) to be str8 thru (if you want to stay leagal anyways)

you can do that, i'd suggest gettin mandral bent piping done.. about 2.5" if your going to stay NA

you wont see significant gains either

EDIT: also you have a DC HEADER!!!!!!! NOT DC HEADAARRZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I mean that the sound is raspy with no cat... thats not a good thing at all. It's kind of hard to explain, it's like a crackly noise.

i would consider instead, custom piping with a hi-flow cat, straight-thru racing resonator, and the muffler of your choice.

I used to have a straight pipe on my Si and it made my exhaust sound really rapsy and I hated it. HP wise not sure if you can really feel a differece maybe a little more in the top end but the trade off for HP and Sound I would rather have sound. Also I though a code when I put that staright pipe on. So its realy not worth it but its really up to you =)

I asked my mechanic who did some of my upgrades and he said I whould have no problem with any sensors since I changed to an OBD I computer. The only promblem he said is that I will be poluting the earth more. I should get some good hp since I have the other upgrades. I know he knows what he's talking about cause he has a turbo charged 11 sec hatch he competes with.

Plan on spending alot in tickets unless you have alot of friends on the force. I get hassled in Texas for my catback thats fully legal, and str8 pipes are much louder.

i have a straight pipe and it is way too annoying, don't do it. my car is raspy at first, but it goes away as it gets warm. it also sounded better b4 i took the cat off.

We'll I think I might try it cause I'm hungry for more hp and power. I am addicted to hp on my Si. Cause I like to punk those high price cars that have less power than me. But I also want to give the big boys a good run and even beat them.

haha yea we know its HEADER, its just that it sounds funny wen u say "I have DC header" sounds more clean wen u say, I have DC headers.

About the straight piping, before i got my exhaust ticket, i did straight piping...i kept my CAT...i just basically ripped of the resonators which is pretty much straight piping. Its already freaking loud with exhaust and straight piping just made it worse. I didn't feel that great of power gains either...the exhaust just gets louder and a bit more throaty.

straight exhaust on a n/a b16a with bolt ons is gonna do s**t. you want hp to "run with the big boys" then you either need to dump your b16 and get something with more displacement and build the snot out of it, or boost it.

NO. thats grammatically INCORRECT

it has nothing to do with sound "clean" or s**t like that, its the fact that is a 4cyl. engine with only ONE HEADER... not two or three. . .

just like matt said. . .
