I see a lot of civics with RS on the front grill or SiR or EX-R. What the heck do they mean? All I know are CX, DX, LX, EX, Si and Type-R. Confusion???

there was also the jdm 5th gen sir, which was the top of the line hatches and sedans. about the whole rs thing, im not quite sure myself. i know from other companies, rs=rally sport. but about hondas, i heard someone say rally/racing sedan, which im not sure is entirely true.

actually, EX-R does exist, although not for civics. to my knowlege and from personal experience, the ex-r is an accord trim. i've only seen it in chile though.

SiR is not only a japanese trim, but also a canadian trim (USDM Si = CDM SiR... CDM Si = USDM ex)....

RS, from what i know, is a japenese trim. i believe they were d16 powered btw...

i always associated RS with 'race spec' as the RS trim for evolutions has always been the stripped down version (no creature comforts, nor foglights, etc)

SIR was developed in Canada, when the 6th came out, their was no DOHC civics, Honda dropped the SI from it's civic line, Canada looked and the 5th SI civics had 125hp and the new 6th EX had 127hp, Honda Canada at that time decided to keep the SI on their version of the EX, however, in 99 Honda released the coupe version SI in the states with the DOHC...Honda Canada at that time decided in order to maintain integrity to call the new DOHC version the SiR, hence...that is where SiR comes from.............There is no such thing as EX-R...I wish there was...I have an EX.

a ferio RS is short for VI-RS, it is a civic in japan that has all the option and the front end looks like a type r, but has a d15b engine. for SIR, since this is in the 6gen forum. the SIR is a ek4 hatch, or in other countries, the SIR is also is the EK3 (i think, i forgot the code) 4door civic which has a b16a engine. for ex-r, its a regular civic ex in mexico and south america, i forgot the locations. there is even a 4wd ek5 civic/ferio, i never seen a picture, but i think its a 4door and it has a d16a.

heres a pic of the vi-rs

wrong, in canada there was no 6th gen ex. It was only 6th gen Si and then in 99 they came out with the 6th gen SiR along with the USDM Si.

Also, in Canada we do have an Accord EX-R... you were right Anfrey =)

yep, we have accord ex-r's in chile as well. i don't like how ppl post very strong statements about the existance of certain trims while only having USDM knowledge.... there are so many different markets for hondas out there...

like i bet most of you have never driven a honda Fit.

RS is a 3rd gen Camaro with a TBI 305. Not a USDM Civic

I see lots of USDM Civics sporting SiR badges that don't have a factory tach... It's usually an APC badge availiable at O'Reilly's.
