RS is a 3rd gen Camaro with a TBI 305. Not a USDM Civic

I see lots of USDM Civics sporting SiR badges that don't have a factory tach... It's usually an APC badge availiable at O'Reilly's.
Did anyone not read what i said? You see usdm cars with Sir because a jdm b16 in a usdm car is then not an SI but an SIR. Yes canadas has sir's but usdm sir's are jdm b16's.

SIR was developed in Canada, when the 6th came out, their was no DOHC civics, Honda dropped the SI from it's civic line, Canada looked and the 5th SI civics had 125hp and the new 6th EX had 127hp, Honda Canada at that time decided to keep the SI on their version of the EX, however, in 99 Honda released the coupe version SI in the states with the DOHC...Honda Canada at that time decided in order to maintain integrity to call the new DOHC version the SiR, hence...that is where SiR comes from.............There is no such thing as EX-R...I wish there was...I have an EX.
Your wrong read what i said above, your right on the canada part, but canada did not make the SIR. Its differant there then it is here.

usdm SiR's don't exist. there is more to a trim than an engine.

So, putting a B16 in a DX makes it no longer a DX?
All that does is make it a substantially faster DX...it's still a USDM DX ...with an ugly APC SiR sticker on it.

Lets just put it like this USDM 98 CIVIC EX = CANADA 98 CIVIC SI......USDM 99 CIVIC SI = CANADA 99 CIVIC SIR........

Does that clear up what I said?

Better yet: QUOTE:

In 1996, American Honda dropped the Si badge and called the top of the line Civic model the EX (127hp SOHC VTEC D16Y8 engine). Honda Canada continued to use the Si badge for the exact same car (127hp SOHC VTEC D16Y8). I would guess that Honda Canada looked at the fact that the '92 to '95 125 horsepower D16Z6 Civic Si coupe was essentailly the same car as the '96 127 horsepower D16Y8 coupe (the engines are almost identical) and decided that the Si badge should stay.

When Honda decided to bring the DOHC VTEC 160hp B16A2 Civic to North America, American Honda ressurected the Si badge, while Honda Canada used the SiR badge, since they were still selling a Civic called the Si.

So for 1999 and 2000, Canadian Si = US EX, Canadian SiR = US Si. The same is true for the new 2002 and later civic hatchback - the Canadian model is the SiR, and the US model is the Si.

actually, EX-R does exist, although not for civics. to my knowlege and from personal experience, the ex-r is an accord trim. i've only seen it in chile though.

SiR is not only a japanese trim, but also a canadian trim (USDM Si = CDM SiR... CDM Si = USDM ex)....

RS, from what i know, is a japenese trim. i believe they were d16 powered btw...
i thought so...i wasnt totally sure..now ill know =)

The only thing I have to add is that just because you switch in an engine doesnt mean you can toss a SIR badge on your car. There are other differences in cars besides just the engine

Also from what I know the RS was only a sedan yet I see alot of coupes with the RS grill.

I think that was said already, but a usdm si with a jdm b16 is considered an sir. Not just newer si's but any kind crx si hatch all of them. I am not the only one who has heard of this am i?

In any event....me being a noob and everything and not knowing anything about forums, I guess I have gone too far....too bad huh....I mean it isn't like I helped develop the first BBS's or anything...or not that my job is to monitor world wide GAN systems or anything, I am terribly sorry for my noob post that SeanMc300 misunderstood, perhaps one day when I grow up and get that much sought out job as a fry cook at McDonalds I too can understand complex words and understand......until that day I believe I will just enjoy my life as it is.

*sigh* well i'll say this once again: there is more to a trim than an engine.

also, coupes are originally USDM vehicles. if it weren't for USDM, we wouldn't have civic coupes. they were then introduced to other markets, where they've done quite well, but not as well as here in USDM-land.
