Depending on your pref. to music, has anyone ever placed subs under the rear seats in a 98 Civic Coupe? And if so how does it sound with hip hop, rap. etc.

unless you plan on cutting through your body, i dont think any1 has put it UNDER the seat. Under the rear seats is your body. BEHIND your seats is a different story and other ppl can give their input

You'll be cutting into the sheet metal. Never seen it done, unless it was a custom box built on top of the rear seats.

place the box facing the trunk lid behind the seats, less cancelation, better sound

thanks for the input guys, i just wanted to know if anyone had ever seen it done. In my previous car i had my sub box farthest back toward the trunk as possible facing the rear seats, it gave better sound then having the subs face the rear of the trunk.

you might be able to get some 6" subs under the seat. but that would be pretty crappy for rap. i have2 12" aimed at my hatch. then so the box doesn't slide into the hatch i have put a pair of boots there.

edit:; :smackself ijust relized he ment the back seats. like other have said not likely. though you could pull out the foamy bottom piece and put subs in place of the lower seat with like a custom fiberglass box or something. keep that little bit of truck space you have.

i heard you gain somethin like 3dbs just pointing them towards hatch...that's where my 15s point(they're sooo heavy it's like havin a person ridin in the hatch all the time) i have a carpeted bar i put so it doesn't slide...looks pretty clean too...don't go for the under seat sub thing sounds like a good idea but once you get to kno the structure of the cars it seems more and more an impractical idea.....

yeh, I'd miss having a back seat, usable trunk space and the pass through for long stuff. I usually take out the sub completly when I am hauling stuff.

Under the rear seat? That's where the gas tank is. Something to consider before you get in there with a plasma torch.

My friend in High School had the rear seat back (upper section) removed from his Fox body Ford and had 2 15's built there. You could still sit in the back seat but you were only inches from the subs and you couldn't lean back

Depends on the kind of music you listen to, face them towards the trunk if you listen to Hiphop/electonic
but if you listen to rock you want them facing the seats.

I disagree. Mines facing the trunklid midway and I get better sound quality and volume for every genre of music than facing the back of the seats.

:wstupid: i agree with that, for rock i just switch my subs from 50Hz to 80Hz, they sound like absolute s**t if i turn them around facing the back of my seat. but it is just a normal box, next time i am getting a bandpass. but i might have a diff car by then.

I ask you to reconsider bandpass and go tri-tuned. Better response and louder. Cannibal Corpse sounds sooo much better loud.
