i wouldnt buy that car, that many miles on a 2000 is freaking crazy!! the average mileage for that year of a car should be in the 50,000-60,000 region......that many miles+ the throttle thing you mentioned prolly means it might not have been broken in properly and was stressed when it was still a very young car....i would look for something with less miles then that at least just my two cents

:edit: get a manual too, i used to have an automatic but with my si it was kind of annoying to learn at first but its sooo much funner to drive....id never go back

I went back to the place to see if the car was still there just to take a look... maybe some poor soul did after all get it and got suckered into it by " ... well it aint goin to be here tommorrow" sales pitch... I also missed out on a 96 hatch with a an LS motor swap ( about 95k on the motor) on it..with Hondata managment... he was asking 5500 but I dunno how low he sold it.. EDIT: HE SOLD IT FOR 4200 Here was the link for it... http://www.houston-imports.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100920&page=1&pp=20 was a 5 speed... ughhh guess its just not my time to get a 5 speed hatch right now :-( keep a look out for me ok?... i like the newer hatches Not the 92 styles ( not so fond of them) Im looking more into the next gen hatches after that.. so if any1 knows lemme know...

I'll keep my eyes peeled... but hatch's sell almost as fast as they go up for sale. When you're ready to buy one, you have to be READY to buy one... like put down cash same day and such.
Will PM you if I ever run across any good buys.

If the car itself is in over all good condition, and the transmission has no grinds, then yes.

Think about it this way

97 Civic CX hatchback stock = $4,000 (give or take)
B16A2/3 swap for it = $3,000 + labor and installation (another $1,000 or so)
Various other mods done to the car already = $$$$$ freebie factor/stuff you can sell and add your own mods to.

See, that's another reason I didn't mind buying mine already fixed up... because I'm in the process of stripping everything I Don't like out of it, and selling it off to pay for my own mods that will be put back on.

Personally, Yes... I would say 6k for that Civic is a good deal.

Something I would check for is some service records. Also check carfax although most people have smartened up to the idea of not claiming anything Grrrr. I would have bought it for that though b/c the engine wouldnt matter. That would have gotten taken out eventually =)
