Thats exactly why some HKS Chargers use a Air to Water SMIC for their Procharger kits, for example the new 350z kit.

edit: I put the wrong company.

Clickey Linky
that is a centrifugal SC and has a pipe running from the SC to the intake, somewhere betwen the blower and the intake to hook up intercooler, that is fine, but wont work on a roots styly blower like a JRSC where it is replacing the intake manifold. If you put an IC before a SC you ar just cooling ambiant air to ambiant temp in turn doing nothing

Thunderbird SuperCoupe has an intercooler and a roots type Eaton supercharger

not really sure how all that works but it did.

if you look at the pic its not a true roots style blower, the air goes in the back then out the top of the SC to get pusched through the charge pipe/intercooler, then into the intke manifold(that the blower is sitting on) behind the blower. its a roots screw but upsde down

I dont think a intercooler will work on the JRSC becuse it bolts right where the intake manifold was. Now if you got a procharger style one then yes you can get an intercooler, and yes it would be a performance boost
mmmmm procharger. those are sweet. but only thing is if you have it on a daily driver then i would get annoying. i would imagine it is cheaper that a S/C also.

One of you said that vtec would make the SC slower... IF I install a y8 head, then if I feel its slower can I just disable vtec?

Slower huh?

That's funny. Looks like the B18C1 shows about a 60whp gain. Hmmmmmm

ok i thought we determined that an intercooler cannot be used because in the jrsc kit for civics, the air is compressed DIRECTLY INTO THE HEAD. water injection is the only option.

i didnt say it makes the sc slower, you dont get the same amount of torque out of a vtec engine as a non-vtec.

 Unless you are a bad ass machinist and can modify the JRSC to work like the one on the T-bird SC:lol:

Thanks Io_303 for explaining how that worked. I always kinda' wondered how it went from blower to intercooler to intake. :thumbs up

Just that the supercharger was mounted so that instead of blowing directly into the intake manifold, it pushes it up, throught the I/C and back around to the intake.

But the Ford 3.8 is such a POS that the GM 3.8 makes something like 50 more hp on less boost and no intercooler.

I don't think Ford really had a handle on forced induction until the Lightining or Cobra. The Mustang SVO had it's good points (205 hp out of 2.3 liters in the 80's) but it lagged. Badly. The FWD Daytona Turbo II was as fast, as big, as heavy and gave up 100 ccs displacement and 30 hp.
