well today i finally finsished a 3 week long project of cutting into a screen, lots of bondo, sanding, sanding, and yea u guessed it sanding.....but finally the finshed product.....a 7" touchscreen mounted in my dash and all in all looks pretty damn good almost stock....... and as for the mobo and stuff it easily fit into a 12 disc cd changer which will be mounted in my trunk......

the specs of my carputer

1.3 GHZ Processor
1 GB DDR2 RAM
160W smart power supply
WIFI USB adapter
250 GB HDD
CDRW/DVD drive

be weary of it during hot days as your carputer will have a tendency to over heat.

you must have used a mATX motherboard right?

i tested it running all night in the cd changer case under a thick blanket and by morning it was only slighly warm to the touch........ the mobo used 13 watts of electricty so it doesn't run hot at all.....and with 2 huge fans it cools nicely....thx for all the comments guys pics of it installed will be coming soon

Yeah mounting a mini-ATX board inside a cd-changer case is a great DIY idea.

Shiznit is right about the heat though... im pretty sure under-load in the summer that case is going to get f**king HOT... Maximizing the CPU cooling in such a small area might be difficult. Water cooling? :D
