The DMV is being RIDICULOUS with my smog

Alright, I live in California first off.
I bought my car one year ago, and it was required to get smog'd. Did the whole process, and everything was all good. Now, ONE year later, they're telling me to get it smog'd again? It's supposed to be every other renewal, so should I call the DMV and talk to them? Or are they just gonna b***h me out and tell me to get it smog'd cause California is stupid?

And input is helpful, I don't feel like having to pay another $70 to get it smog'd after one year.

Well apparently they just passed some new laws recently. I was at the smog place on Saturday and this guy in front of me told me he was getting his deisel truck smogged....yea...stupid but he got a letter telling him to. I guess 6th gen civics fall under some high emission category or something

Most cars have to be smogged every other year. Cars that the DMV sees as failing often are flagged and occasionally have to be smogged every year. CA sucks, I know....

we dont have smog or inspection if we did i'd be f**ked.. Straight pipe, tuned on 23 psi, only getting 18 mpg on a gti not good.

I called them before I left, and this is the response I got, "You have to get it tested because that's what the computer is telling me."
But I did, and I passed. There goes another $70...

yeah cali sucks, did you still have the old paperwork were it passed? i would ve fought that, but your right dmv just gonna make you pay anyway, they make up there own rules but it should be every other year, i hope cause im rollin a 6th gen. hope they dont start picking on us.
