What are you looking at for highway mpg driving? I have about 8k to put down on a car and choices are: 240sx swapped sr20det/ 350z/s2k/New Sti. It just all depends on my monthly payments on what price range I will jump into. I'm a colllege student, but still have the urge have a performance car and I have a DD already.

reading comprehension was never your strong subject eg?

and as a fellow college student, wait till you graduate to get a nicer car if your DD still runs great and theres nothing wrong with it. Ive been wanting a ranger / tacoma / frontier 4x2 xcab truck 4cyl for a little while cause i do a lot of outdoorsy s**t, but i figure while im in college, no reason to give up 30 mpg and a car that goes everywehre the truck can just hauls s**t in less comfort.

yea well i would say to wait, and save more money. but yea i put no money down, and im making payments, one of the worst decisions, cause now i have to go to work and go to school, it sux ass, but i wil do it because i have the want and the motivation, no one could tell me different. but yea if you were to get one and i could not tell you different, i would say get the new sti, really good choice.

When I got out of college I went an bought a $250k+ house :what:

I could have went an bought a nice car but then I would still be living at home with the rents.
So instead of buying expensive cars I bought something to return profit it in. I still have fun with cars they just aren't your $30k.

I have a 99 civic ls/vtec
90 s13 with sr20det
01 Jeep TJ Sport on 33's

Thats all I need

Another civic guy converts to the darkside... Welcome to the club man. Seeing that you live in Maryland I hope you are making it to next year's Wicked Big Meet in MA. With that power you are making you should be seeing lower times. I am running a VF39 swap/ STi tmic and some other bolt ons and ended up with a 13.1 on my 1st trip with that set up (2nd trip ever to the track). Im making 280hp/330tq with my '06 WRX

Here's 2 pics from this year

well the 03 trannys on the wrx's are pretty weak, they only hold about 300 hp/350 tq if your lucky, thats the highest number of hp i have seen on em reliably, the sti tranny's are where subaru really put there effort into, and some of the newer wrx tranny's are pretty strong.

Yeah they are the weaker of all the WRXs but it all depends on how you drive the car. Most WRX owners will tell you that driving a AWD turbo car like the WRX is somewhat different than driving a civic or another lower hp N/A car. I let my friend (which I have never done before) race my car against against a LS/vtec civic coupe and he almost lost due to not knowing how to launch the car and shifting. Another thing to think about is that most WRXs come with about 190-198 whp in stock mode. When you add 33% more power/ torque that equals that much more stress on the tranny. It is true the STi tranny is waaaaayy more stronger than the WRX. Those usually can handle 4-500 hp before breaking depending on the driver.

Hey CiVIcCFAsST what exhaust are you running??? I am running the 3" SPT catback w/ ERZ downpipe and it keeps the car fairly quiet. I did get one ticket for exhaust but fought it in court and brought the Subaru accesory handbook to court and showed them that it was an exhaust I got from Subaru as an option aka "sports package", meaning it was "OEM". They looked at the booklet briefly and said ok and dismissed the the ticket. For the most part though it is pretty quiet unless you are at WOT and even then its not that loud. I have thought about the QTP cutout but the only thing is that you would have to carry your Accessport wherever you go in case you need to change your fuel map.

yea your right about the tranny stuff. but yea im WAS runnin an ebay cat back, but i got 4 exhaust citations and i have to go to court for them, so right now i have the stocker on there, but i do have the cobb catless dp on there now, and it is extremely quiet right now...lol, but im getting the cutout and it should all be good, and about carrying your accessport, yea its good to have a different tune for different exhaust flow, but if you are runnin open downpipe that turbo will spool a lot faster, and right now currently im runnin the utec, with the remote switch, so when i am stock, i will run my "modded map" jsut because i have upgraded injectors and fuel pump. but when i open that dp, my car is ready for the decreased lag due to the unobstruction of that exhaust. so it will all work out.
