That "Douche" is moderately correct. If you don't have any idea or a thought of how much it actually costs to restore all the "plastics", you most likely aren't ready to do so or can't monetarily. With time anything is possible, and im not saying that you aren't good for the money*im not saying you are either since I don't know you or your financial status* but im sure if you were to have the money or willing to give it the appropriate time to accumulate you most likely wouldn't be able to justify it. Simply put, restoring all the plastics will be like buying another vehicle. Your looking at 4k-5k if your going to cheap out. With 4k-5k you can afford a variety of things to do to your civic in the performance section. Since it is speed you're concerned with, you will have to upgrade your suspension system *along with a few other things* and then you can turbocharge or supercharge your present engine or swap for a better engine and then apply forced induction. So I'm sure you're wondering "what's the difference?", the difference is that after spending that money you are nearing if not surpassing 300zx performance with reliability *meaning that at this point you can daily drive your car and not expect to be stranded*. The 300zxs reliability on the other hand would remain unknown. When I estimated the 4k-5k, I wasn't actually considering all the plastics, just the basics *and only with cheap parts in mind*. You still wouldn't have done any electrical, mechanical *as in the engine and its supporting systems* or any reliability maintenances other than suspension and a few other things. Meaning that you would know that you are safe to drive down a cracked and bumpy road, but that you wouldn't be able to *and im sure it wouldn't be safe to* push it to its limits without risking the possibility of blowing your engine or anything else within the mechanical systems or at least causing some type damage.Ok so how bout this kinda question. How much would it take to get my civic to almost z performance.
And to that other douche saying if I Gata ask I can't afford it. We aren't on ur corner dot use ur hooker talk. If u don't have an answer to help don't even get on this.
Agreed. They are on completely different planes/playing fields and neither will be exactly the same *and trust me, they even act/react differently*. I have only spoken velocity performances, I haven't even gotten to handling or any other variant concerning the two. oh_aaron_, What cpgEJ6 states is correct. Choose what type of car you would rather have and go with it instead of engulfing yourself in an arbitrary goal which will hinder your ability to ever enjoy any vehicle. They're different types of cars entirely, they won't ever perform the same. If you're talking about just power that's one thing but it all depends on the route you take. You should decide what type of car you would rather drive and go with it rather than focusing on an arbitrary performance goal.
Agreed. Handling also plays a big role in their differences and abilities. A civic will never handle like a 300zx just like a zx will never handle like a civic and given certain circumstances this can be a detriment or an advantage to either party. As far as power, a civic can reach or surpass the zx; That means nothing but it also doesn't mean either or is better. It all depends on what environment they will be on. Oh_Aaron_ , this is why you should have considered what you are actually going to be doing with either vehicle instead of looking at one party's superficiality.A civic will never handle like a z. You can build up a civic to make the same hp to the wheels as a z, and perform similarly in a drag race. But z's are rear wheel drive, they can drift, slide, burnout, etc. Completely different ball game.
And he has a point saying if you have to ask you probably can't afford it. A complete overhaul of all the plastics, rubber seals, etc easily runs in the thousands if you go oem.
Also, Young_ , for a 300zx sliding or drifting is actually a detriment in most situations. The 300zx has a limited wheel base and angle not to mention a really off kilter balance, weight, and the Super Hicas system . To Drift a 300zx is already an overbearing risk and a "scary" task for most individuals considering all the contributing factors. With money, sure you can overcome these aspects but hardly anyone is willing to do so considering the amount of money and fabrication needed. That said, the 300zx is actually very tail happy, but to an extent (mostly having to do with the limits of the contributing factors). Go beyond that and you're risking more than just your life not to mention you will be in a zone where anything can happen *the point of no return*.
