You guys never told me how much of a b***h these little f**king keepers were. I almost lost them like three times already lol.

My dad has this tool here

He doesn't like using it so we made this

It's a standard size socket. We just cut a window in it so we can reach the keepers and we are using a c-clamp to compress the spring using the socket. Then we use a magnetic screw driver to get the keepers out. Taking it out and replacing the seal is easy. Now putting the keepers back in with the retainer and spring is a whole other ball game but I will get it in due time. Word of the day is "Patience"

One valve done and complete 15 more to go. We called it a day because it's completely dark out and these bugs are eating me alive so I'll pick back up in the morning. Overall we got a lot done today, the water pump is in so thats done. Also the intake gasket is being a pain to get off. It's very old and dry I'm using a razor blade to pick it away but it's very difficult.

I know it may sound dangerous but what you could have done was let the car run til the normal operating temp. (fan kicks on) and turn it off then do the head gasket. The reason I say this is cause when heated the gasket expands especially if you've been using a high mileage oil, and it allows you to easily remove the gasket...maybe next time ;) Good progress tho bro keep it up :thumbs up

This rocker arm assembly is busting my balls. I can't get the bearing cap bolts back in. The holes in the rockers aren't lining up and I'm losing daylight.
