This is why I ignore my CEL thread

CEL's are very important but however more often than ever the inexperienced tend to use CEL's as the absolute reason something is wrong. just because they get a O2 sensor code they assume the O2 sensor is faulty and blow $50+ on a new one only to see the problem persist.

People really need to learn how to diagnose their problems. CEL's are tools to HELP diagnose not to dictate absolute verdicts.

I have ignored mine for over a year because I don't want to replace the main wire harness for the engine. I have a few different mechanics tell me that its OK to be running since it only is causing me to run a little rich when cold. Probably destroyed my O2 sensors and cats but oh well.

I'm ignoring my CEL code 90 until I get to a junkyard to pick up a new evap canister. I disassembled it last year to figure out how it worked, and have been throwing the code ever since.

I know I should just check the connections before replacing, but I've been damn lazy lately, you know, with all the transmission fixin' and stuff.

Mine has only came on once in the 3.5 years I've had the car (*knock on wood*) and I flipped out and had it checked right away... I can't ignore it...

Why dont you guys use the spacers for your secondary o2 sensor?

Im not using any o2s right now because I dont have em and im pretty sure thats the only thing im getting a light for. What sucks is that the car ran super rich and it annihilated my o2 sensor. :(

When I first did my y8 swap, I had 7 check engine lights FML.

I just got retuned to ignore the cause of a CEL.

But it wasn't anything that hurts performance or will ever cause damage.

At the current moment, my CEL is on in my Lancer Evolution VIII because my ETS Turbo-back makes my turbo spool hella faster and spikes 25psi (instead of the factory 22psi) and it throws a Overboost code. So, until I get EvoTune, that b***h is /ignore'd

I ignore my CEL because it comes on no matter what i do to it..
P1457 replaced canister a few times still comes on in longer increments so ive let it go and just stop trying. I suppose it could be the Evap Purge Solenoid Valve but thats 160 bucks that i cannot spend right now.

I've had my 3rd CEL since last summer. July? August? I know what it is. P0505 - engine idle malfunction. Showed up after I took my original IACV off and cleaned it out. I don't know what the f**k is causing it. I got a used newER IACV off a 2000 civic ex with way less mileage. Didn't help. I've checked every hose in my engine bay and I can't see anything that would cause a vacuum leak. It only causes problems when I'm at idle and the engine is fully warmed up. When I'm moving and in gear or the engine isn't up to temp, nothing happens. Pisses me off.

I ignore my CEL because i have a trippy 1st (header) o2 sensor that likes to come on after being on the thruway for an hour or so. it usually goes off after another 100 miles so i pay no mind to it much anymore
